I was recently told that the expression "laa ilaha illallah" does not appear in the Quran. Is this true?

318 God bears witness that there is no god except he, as do the controllers and those who possess knowledge. Truthfully and equitably, he is the absolute god; there is no god but He, the Almighty, the Wise.

318 Shahida Allahu annahu la ilaha illa huwa waalmala-ikatu waoloo alAAilmi qa-imanbialqisti la ilaha illa huwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu

Who told you that this expression does not appear in The Quran?

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

ABSOLUTELY! It is NOT found in the Qur'aan. That is a man-made expression you believe in, and that is why you are rightfully called the SECTARIANS. The FIRST ARTICLE of faith in ISLAM is ONLY "LA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH", PERIOD. You blieve and follow what GOD has forbidden. See 7218, "...do NOT call ANYONE alongside with GOD."

Got a problem in understanding anything again Jamaal? I never said its not in Quran, I pointed to many verses where it said there is no God but Him/He and said there were many more, which thankfully Mazhar found the actual verse there is no God but God. What is NOT in there is the la illaha illallah, muhammed ar-rasool Allah.

if you continue to accuse because you dont read a thing properly then, well im sure you know what YOU are worse than

There was once a beggar at the entrance of the house asking for handouts. The resident was on the upper floor and answered if he was downstairs he would?ve given him some money. The next day he came back asking for help again. The resident was downstairs this time and said to the man that if he was upstairs he would?ve given him some money. The man said to him, sir, I saw both your up and down, he then left.

Here I?m the example of the beggar. First I was jealous! Next my fonts were out of order! I wonder if there are any other excuses left .

Anyways, when starving and I see food at hand, I could care less about the food container, its color, shape, and or its size. The rest are all baseless excuses.

                                Peace,
                                Khalil

It is a statement. No one is calling anyone along with Allah. On the contrary in this statement it is loudly declared that Mohammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam is the Messenger of Allah.

Thank you all for your replies. It was just something I wanted to know out of interest. Whether or not the actual phrase appears in AQ does not diminish the message of AQ at all. There really was no need for the discussion to be as heated as it was.

                                        Thanks for the references Mazhar.

                                          Salam,

It is a statement. No one is calling anyone along with Allah. On the contrary in this statement it is loudly declared that Mohammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam is the Messenger of Allah.

"It is a statement", you said. Yes, but is a very wrong one. Below you'll find the last part of the following link in which I've tried to explain why Muslims have problem with the "STATEMENTS" like the above.

                                          Peace,
                                          Khalil

The point is that Muslims have no quarrels with the sectarians other than saying that the religion MUST be about the worship of GOD Alone. All we are saying to them is to stop idolizing the prophets and worship GOD only. We are saying that the Shahaadah must be all about GOD Alone. We are saying to them not to mention any other name in their prayers except GOD. We are saying to them not to call upon anyone else in their call to prayer/ADZAN, but GOD. We are saying not to implore anyone in your DU?AA?, but GOD. We are saying to them The Qur?aan is the ONLY source of religious guidance; do not use any other source like hadith, sunnah, rawaaya, and? alongside with The Qur?aan. We are telling them that there is only one SACRED mosque and that is the one in the city of Mecca with the KA?BAH right in the middle of its courtyard. We are saying to them that the months of performing HAJJ pilgrimage are the four consecutive sacred/HARAAM months. We are asking them to restore those FOUR months back; to minimize the hardship on the people trying to perform their GOD prescribed HAJJ pilgrimage. And finally, we are telling them not to make unlawful what GOD has not made unlawful and vice versa. We are not declaring anything new. We are just propagating the practice of the faith according to The Qur?aan Alone. We are telling them to reform and repent and come back to The Qur?aan. That?s all. No reinvention at all.
