What is metaphorical does not have to be not literal. If you think that because the reading is interpreted metaphorically that it is not literal than I disagree with you here. I think you have misunderstood Kyle because he has given the metaphor, but like I said they can be literal which you have clearly ascertained. You have not seen the metaphor.

I verify the story by looking at the universe, "male" and "female" are designed as a compliment to each other there is yin and yang to all of life.

The Disease-Ridden Homosexual Lifestyle
Using various mainstream medical journals, like the New England Journal of Medicine, one can show just how seriously disease-ridden the "homosexual lifestyle" is. (The fact that the dominant media are downplaying or ignoring the following crucial information should give you a clue as to just how biased and untrustworthy and potentially detrimental they can be.)

One 1982 study found that the anal cancer rate for homosexuals is way above normal, maybe as high as 50 times normal.

And a 1997 study again drew attention to the "strong association between anal cancer and male homosexual contact."

(The reason for the connection is that the lining of the anus, as opposed to the much thicker lining of the vagina, is only a single cell in thickness, tears easily, and thus is an easy point of entry for viruses and bacteria. Just as repeatedly assaulting lung tissue with cigarette smoke increases one's lung cancer risk, repeatedly damaging the anus and rectum increases one's anal cancer risk. Anal sex frequently results in damage to the anus and rectum. Too, this helps explain why AIDS is spread so easily in the homosexual community. However, even when there are not any tears in the anal lining, there is still a high risk for HIV infection because certain cells in its mucous lining can be infected and will then carry HIV deeper into one's body.)

Another study found that

80% of syphilitic patients are homosexual;
about one-third of homosexuals are infected with active anorectal herpes simplex viruses;
chlamydia infects 15% of homosexuals; and
"a host of parasites, bacterial, viral, and protozoan are all rampant in the homosexual population."

Another study found that

amoebiasis, a parasitic disease, afflicts around 32% of homosexuals;
giardiasis, also a parasitic disease, afflicts 14% of homosexuals (no heterosexuals in the study were found to have either amoebiasis or giardiasis);
gonorrhea afflicts 14% of homosexuals; and
11% of homosexuals had anal warts.

Another study found that anorectal sepsis, a potentially toxic bacterial infection, is 4 times more common in homosexual than heterosexual men.

According to another study, the "prevalence of EBV type 2 among homosexual men was significantly higher than it was among heterosexual men (39% vs. 6%)."

(That virus causes infectious mononucleosis and is associated with two types of cancer Burkitt's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.)

And other studies have found abnormally high rates of hepatitis B infection, prostate cancer, colitis, enteritis, proctitis, and proctocolitis in homosexual men.

In 1997 a writer for the pro-homosexual New York Times noted that a young male homosexual in America has about a 50% chance of getting H.I.V. by middle age, that many homosexuals have abandoned "safe sex" in favor of unprotected anal sex, and that the incidence of gonorrhea rose 74% among homosexuals between 1993 and 1996.

In early 2005 the Chicago Department of Public Health reported that the percentage of Chicago AIDS diagnoses connected to homo/bisexual men increased from 37% in year 2000 to 44% in 2003; and it also found that homo/bisexual men accounted for approximately 60% of Chicago syphilis cases.

Regarding lesbians, they face a higher breast cancer risk. One study of lesbians found that

"Sixty-three percent of the lesbians had never been pregnant.... Not having children increases a woman's breast cancer risk by between two to six times." Not having children also "may be a risk factor for ovarian cancer and may be implicated in endometrial cancer as well."

Another study found bacterial vaginosis occuring in 33% of the lesbians but only in 13% of heterosexual women, and found that "Cervical cytology abnormalities were uncommon but only found in the lesbians." (Those abnormalities may be precursors to cervical cancers.)

Another study of lesbians found a "relatively high prevalence of the viral STDs, herpes simplex and human papillomavirus ."

And according to another "Genital HPV infection and squamous intraepithelial lesions are common among women who are sexually active with women."

(One reason lesbians have a relatively high incidence of STDs is that, as some studies have documented, lesbians have more sexual partners than heterosexual women. For example, a large University of Chicago study concluded that lesbians have four times as many sexual partners as straight women.)

It should be noted that lesbian sexual diseases have not been researched nearly as much as male homosexual sexual diseases. This is because lesbian sex was presumed to be relatively safe. Some doctors are fairly calling for more research into the health of lesbians. With more study, we may find the "lesbian lifestyle" is not so safe after all.

Another relatively unknown fact the blood of male homosexuals tends to be so contaminated with various viruses and bacteria that all male homosexuals who have been sexually active since 1977 are barred from donating blood.

A contributing factor to all the diseases found in homosexuals is habitual promiscuity; and a contributing factor to their promiscuity is the popularity of drug use among them. As a homosexual columnist for the Windy City Times, Jose Zuniga, has reported, there is "out-of-control drug use undermining our community's health and well-being, and contributing to the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases."

Homosexual author Dennis Altman, in one of his books, likewise noted the popularity of drugs among homosexuals "What is disturbing is the degree to which much of the gay world rests on a sea of alcohol and drugs."

Liberals and their media love to restrict the rights of consenting adults who smoke (because smoking can be harmful), who drink alcohol (for obvious reasons), who own guns (because accidents and murders happen), who believe homosexual activity is immoral and penalizeable (because liberals mistakenly think that there is a right to aberrations like homosexual behavior and also think that any "speech" that reflects negatively on homosexuals----like the information you are reading on this website----should be considered "hate speech"), etc., etc. Liberals love to patronizingly restrict our freedoms ("for our own good").

However, liberals apparently believe it's perfectly okay for people to spread sexual diseases all over this country. Why, we can't restrict the rights of people who spread STDs! That's oppression and fascism! Liberals are such hypocrites.

Incidentally, spending on AIDS research is excessive, totally out-of-whack, unconscionably unfair--and homosexuals are so selfish they don't care. In the year 2000 America spent around $180 million on prostate cancer research versus around $7 billion on AIDS research, but the number of men who are stricken with prostate cancer each year in the U.S.A. is several times the number of people annually stricken with AIDS!! And in the year 2000 we spent only around $425 million on breast cancer research versus the $7 billion on AIDS research, even though the number of women who are stricken with breast cancer each year is again several times the number of people annually stricken with AIDS in this country!! It's pretty clear that homosexuals care little about those who die of prostate and breast cancers and other diseases that are relatively underfunded compared to AIDS. Where is their humanity and sense of fairness?

Another point that needs making homosexuals have done much damage to this country. For example, thousands of innocent hemophiliacs died of AIDS in years past because HIV-positive homosexuals infected the blood supply. (In 1984 "the Centers for Disease Control found 74 percent of hemophiliacs who received blood factors made from the plasma of U.S. donors were HIV positive.") And for another example, we are spending millions and millions of taxpayer dollars on anti-AIDS drugs for homosexuals who voluntarily engaged in unsafe sex. Because of these outrages homosexuals collectively owe America an apology and reparations for the damages.

To sum up, for various reasons (homosexual acts are physiologically unnatural, homosexuals are inclined to be notably promiscuous), the "homosexual lifestyle" tends to be a very unhealthy one--unhealthy both to individuals and to the society that indirectly pays for or suffers the consequences. To encourage anyone to engage in homosexual activity is clearly irresponsible and depraved.

U dont get it , do u? We are not saying anyone choosing homoseuality is a good thing. We are talking of people who have been born with the orientation. If all this is beyond ur understanding, so be it. But please refrain from making personal remarks about people u know nothing of.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

The Fact File of Prophet Lut (pbuh) - 1950 BC - 1870 BC

Prophet Abraham (PBUH) left Egypt accompanied by his nephew Lut (PBUH), who then went to the city of Sodom (Sadum), which was on the western shore of the Dead Sea.

This city was filled with evil. Its residents waylaid, robbed and killed travellers. Another common evil among them was that men had sex with men instead of with women. This unnatural act later became known as sodomy (after the city of Sodom). It was practiced openly and unashamedly.

It was at the height of these crimes and sins that Allah revealed to Prophet Lut (PBUH) that he should summon the people to give up their indecent behavior, but they were so deeply sunk in their immoral habits that they were deaf to Lut's preaching. Swamped in their unnatural desires, they refused to listen, even when Lut warned them of Allah's punishment. Instead, they threatened to drive him out of the city if he kept on preaching.
Allah the Almighty revealed

"The people of Lut (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers when their brother Lut said to them "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him?"

"Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. SO fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism) my reward is only from the Lord of the Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). Go you in unto the males of the Alamin (mankind), and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!"

?They said "If you cease not, O Lut! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!"

?HE said "I am indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do."

?SO We saved him and his family, all except an old woman (this wife) among those who remained behind.?

The doings of Lut's people saddened his heart. Their unwholesome reputation spread throughout the land, while he struggled against them. As the years passed, he persisted in his mission but to no avail. No one responded to his call and believed except for the members of his family, and even in his household, not all the members believed. Lut's wife, like Noah's wife, a disbeliever.

Allah the Almighty declared

?Allah set forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Noah and the wife of Lut. They were under two of Our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands, by rejecting their doctrines) so they (Noah & Lut) benefited them (their respective wives) not, against Allah, and it was said "Enter the Fire along with those who enter!"

Overwhelmed with despair, Lut prayed to Allah to grant him victory and destroy the corrupt. Therefore, the angels left Abraham (pbuh) and headed for Sodom the town of Lut (pbuh). They reached the walls of the town in the afternoon. The first person who caught sight of them was Lut's daughter, who was sitting beside the river, filling her jug with water. When she lifted her face and saw them, she was stunned that there could be men of such magnificent beauty on earth.

One of the tree men (angels) asked her "O maiden, is there a place to rest?"

Remembering the character of her people she replied, "Stay here and do not enter until I inform my father and return." Leaving her jug by the river, she swiftly ran home. "O father!" she cried. "You are wanted by young men at the town gate and I have never before seen the like of their faces!"

Lut felt distressed as he quickly ran to his guests. He asked them where they came from and where they were going.

They did not answer his questions. Instead they asked if he could host them. He started talking with them and impressed upon them the subject of his people's nature. Lut was filled with turmoil; he wanted to convince his guests without offending them, not to spend the night there, yet at the same time he wanted to extend to them the expected hospitality normally accorded to guests. In vain he tried to make them understand the perilous situation. At last, therefore, he requested them to wait until the night fell, for then no one would see them.

When darkness fell on the town, Lut escorted his guest to his home.

No one was aware of their presence. However, as soon as Lut's wife saw them, she slipped out of the house quietly so that no one noticed her. Quickly, she ran to her people with the news and it spread to all the inhabitants like wildfire. The people rushed towards Lut quickly and excitedly. Lut was surprised by their discovery of his guests. and he wondered who could have informed them. The matter became clear, however, when he could not find his wife, anywhere, thus adding grief to his sorrow.

When Lut saw the mob approaching his house, he shut the door, but they kept on banging on it. He pleaded with them to leave the visitors alone and fear Allah's punishment. He urged them to seek sexual fulfilment with their wives, for that is what Allah had made lawful.

Lut's people waited until he had finished his short sermon, and then they roared with laughter. Blinded by passion, they broke down the door. Lut became very angry, but he stood powerless before these violent people. He was unable to prevent the abuse of his guests, but he firmly stood his ground and continued to plead with the mob.

At that terrible moment, he wished he had the power to push them away from his guests. Seeing him in a state of helplessness, and grief the guests said "Do not be anxious or frightened, Lut for we are angels, and these people will not harm you."

On hearing this, the mob was terrified and fled from Lut's house, hurling threats at him as they left. The angels warned Prophet Lut (pbuh) to leave his house before sunrise, taking with him all his family except his wife.
Allah had decreed that the city of Sodom should perish. AN earthquake rocked the town. IT was as if a mighty power had lifted the entire city and flung it down in one jolt. A storm of stones rained on the city. Everyone and everything was destroyed, including Lut's wife.

Allah the Almighty recounted this story

?And tell them about the guests (angels) of Abraham. When they entered unto him, and said "Salaaman (peace)!" Abraham said "Indeed! We are afraid of you."

?They (the angels) said "Do not be afraid! We give you glad tidings of a boy (son) possessing much knowledge and wisdom." (Abraham) said "Do you give me glad tidings (of a son) when old age has overtaken me? Of what then is your news?" They (the angels) said "We give you glad tidings in truth. SO be not of the despairing."

?Abraham said "And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?" (Abraham again) said "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?"

?They (the angels) said "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimeen (criminals, disbeliveers, polytheists, sinners). (All) except the family of Lut. Them all we are surely going to save (from destruction)."

?Except his wife, of whom We have decreed that she shall be of the those who remain behind (she will be destroyed).?

?Then when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lut, he said "Verily! You are people unknown to me." They said "Nay! we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered."

?And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning"

"The inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). Lut said "Verily! These are my guests, so shame me not. And fear Allah and disgrace me not." They (people of the city) said "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the Alamin (people, foreigners strangers etc) from us?" Lut said "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters to marry lawfully) if you must act so."

?Verily, by your life (O Muhammad), in their wild intoxication they were wandering blindly. So As Saliha (torment, awful cry etc) overtook them at the time of sunrise; and We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. Surely! In this are signs for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah).

"And verily! They (the cities) are right on the highroad (from Mecca to Syria, i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers."

Allah the Exalted also declared

?So we saved him and his family, all, except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. Then afterward We destroyed the others. We rained on them a rain of torment. How evil was the rain of those who had been warned. Verily, in this is indeed a sign yet most of them are not believers. Verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All Mighty, the Most Merciful.?

The book was closed on the people of Lut (pbuh). Their towns and names have been erased from the face of the earth. Gone are they from memory. One book was closed of the books of corruption.

Lut (pbuh) proceeded towards Abraham (pbuh). HE visited him, and when he recounted the story of his people, he was surprised to learn that Abraham (pbuh) already knew. So Lut (pbuh) continued to invite people to Allah, as did Abraham (pbuh), the patient one who turned to Allah repentantly, and the two held firm to their mission.

Homosexuality - Crime, Sin, Mental Illness, Inborn Abnormality or Alternative Lifestyle?

Following the publication of our article on Homosexual Marriages we received some letters raising the issue "What is homosexuality?". Is it a crime, a sin, a mental illness, a behavioral disorder, an inborn abnormality or an alternative lifestyle? We consider this question from prime principles below.

Before dealing with these answers, we need to establish clearly what human behaviour or condition we mean, when we talk about homosexuality. To establish that we need to understand the human reproductive process, usually referred to as "sex".

The natural human reproductive process consists of a human male injecting seminal fluid discharged from his penis into the vagina of a human female. This leads to fertilization of the eggs within the womb of the female and eventual birth of a human child. This natural reproductive process of the human species determines the physiological and psychological characteristics of men and women, which are different and reflect their roles in this natural reproductive process. Similar differences between sexes exist in other animal species.

One of the characteristics of this reproductive process is that from time to time men and women feel a strong desire to perform this mutual act of reproduction. This is accompanied by strong emotions of attraction to the opposite sex, love, desire to possess or to belong, envy, jealousy, protectiveness. Often people find it difficult to resist or control these desires and emotions. Similar strong emotions are exhibited in relations of parents to their children. Similar emotion or instinct based reproductive process prevails among other animal species.

But, in addition to emotions and instincts, the human species is endowed with reason and will, which allows it to control emotions and instincts. Human behaviour is a complex interaction between instincts, emotions, reason and will. And the human reproductive process is also affected by this complex interaction.

This complex behaviour within each human individual is also affected by the fact that humans live in social groups. And behaviour of the individuals need to be adapted to life within the group. Thus, in all groups there emerges a moral code (formal or informal) which approves of some forms of behaviour and disapproves of other forms. This also applies to the reproductive process. In most human societies from the early times and up to the second half of the 20th century, all forms of sex related behaviour outside of the framework of heterosexual family were strongly disapproved of, and some forms of sex behaviour, and in particular homosexuality even criminalized. Often this was based on religious teachings, which provided the basis of social morality. Thus, in addition to instincts, emotions, reason and will another factor affects human behaviour - morality.

In the 20th century religion-based morality began to be questioned, and the idea was advanced that homosexuality is not a sin or a crime for which a person is responsible and should be punished, but a "mental illness or personality disorder", for which a person is not responsible, and from which he should be cured.

And towards the end of the 20th century the idea was promoted that homosexuality is not a "mental illness or personality disorder", but a normal form of human behaviour - or "alternative life style".

So what is homosexuality?

It is a behaviour in the course of which a person satisfies his sexual instincts and emotions by interacting with another person of the same sex. Among men this is done by one man using another man's anal passage, mouth, or hand, as if it were a woman's vagina. Homosexual women use their tongues, fingers, or similar objects as a substitute for a male penis. These activities produce sensations and emotions similar to those, experienced during the normal reproductive process. But normal reproductive process it is not. The anal passage is meant for discharge of the products of human digestion, and the mouth for intake of food, not for childbirth, and a finger or tongue cannot make a woman pregnant. This is clearly self-deception and behaviour contrary to that intended by Nature or its Creator.

So why do people engage in such unnatural behaviour? Are people born that way, or do they choose this form of behaviour consciously and voluntarily?

Although it is normal for people to be born with clearly distinct sexual characteristics, it is possible for people to be born with abnormal sexual characteristics. This is similar to people with other congenital abnormalities, like absent, deformed or additional limbs, Siamese twins, etc. Some people are born with underdeveloped, malformed or missing sexual organs. Sometimes the sexual organs of a child are such that it is not clear whether it is a boy or a girl. Some people have inborn behavioral abnormalities. In some cases these abnormalities can be harmless both to the person and others, like a person with six fingers. Sometimes these abnormalities can present a serious handicap to the person, but not to others, like missing limbs. And sometimes a person with congenital abnormalities can be dangerous to others, like a person with violent uncontrollable behaviour.

Yes, people can be born abnormal, but they are not born homosexual. It is meaningless to call a homosexual a person who by virtue of his birth is neither a man, nor a woman - in fact, such people are called hermaphrodites.

Homosexuality is a behaviour, not a physiological characteristic. It is an abnormal behaviour of normal people. It is a result of lack of correct education, and often of corruption by others.

Unlike animals, Man cannot rely exclusively on his instincts and emotions, his instincts and emotions must be controlled by his reason. This control by reason is not inborn, but develops through a prolonged learning process. Usually this happens in a social setting and starts within the family. Even simple instinctive acts like urination are subject to a lengthy learning process. Unlike animals, people do not urinate wherever they feel the urge, they do it in special places. The same applies to the procreational process (sex).

A human person needs to learn to play correctly his role in the procreational process from early childhood. If by the time a person reaches sexual maturity, he has failed to learn his correct role in the procreational process, he can become a victim of his sexual drives which he will misuse, and this can adversely affect the course of his life and can cause harm to others. Rape, marital problems, child molesting, extramarital sex and homosexuality are results of such failure.

In Europe and the Americas, where the social morality in the past was based on the Christian religion, the sex role training was performed by treating sex as a forbidden subject, but girls were expected to follow in the footsteps of their mothers, while boys of their fathers. Sex began at marriage. Sex outside of marriage was condemned, and homosexuality was a crime. Because sex was a taboo, and people were ignorant of anything relating to sex until they were married, young people who developed early or stayed unmarried for a long time were vulnerable to sexual misbehaviour, and could get involved in extramarital sex, or homosexual practices. This lead to some social scandals.

With the religious morality in Europe and the Americas being abandoned in the 20th century, which lead to spread of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, sex education was introduced in European and American schools. This, however, was conducted by people, who having liberated themselves from the restrictions of the morality of the past, have failed to develop an understanding of the role of the reproductive process in human life. The sex lessons were mostly concerned with prevention of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, and ignored the psychological, emotional and social aspects of sex. The approach was "safe sex" - "enjoy yourself, but use a condom or a pill". Homosexuality was safe from the point of view of unwanted pregnancies and children were encouraged to "discover their sexual orientation" experimentally. The issue of "safe sex" did not arise in respect of homosexuals until the epidemic of AIDS broke out. Again the answer was "play safe - use a condom".

One of the characteristics of sex is, that having tried it once, people want more - it becomes addictive. People also develop emotional dependence on their partners. It is not unknown for professional prostitutes to use this feature of sex to lead their "clients" to financial destitution. This is also true of "gay" sex. Once a male is subjected to anal sex, he often develops a behavioral dependency. In the past, when homosexuality was criminalized, this was often used to blackmail people in public life and for recruitment of spies during the Cold War.

Sex related activities are not restricted to sexual cravings and sensations in the course of the reproductive act, they have a continuous effect on general behaviour and life of the person. It affects thinking, dreams, attitude to life, manners, view of oneself. A man can start dreaming of being a woman, or imagining himself as one. People can develop cravings to inflict pain on their sexual partners, or to suffer pain being inflicted by their partners on themselves. Some people develop desire to drink other people's urine, or to be urinated or defecated upon. Failure to control sexual urges can lead to mental disorders, drug addiction, and alcoholism. Thus failure to control ones' sexual life, and to correctly fulfill one's role in the reproductive process can be seen as a disease of the soul.

People who fail to control their sex behaviour usually seek to satisfy their unnatural cravings by involving other people. Often their victims are children, or vulnerable young people. It is common for people having control of young people to corrupt them by sodomization. There were many cases of such practices in Britain and the US - in boarding schools, orphanages, and penal institutions. The present scandals involving Catholic priests in the US and Britain are examples of this.

As the number of homosexuals in Europe and America grew, politicians saw them as a new "constituency" - this became known as "chasing the gay vote". Some politicians themselves are "gay". Homosexuality became a kind of "political" movement. There even is a "gay culture", "gay press", etc. Thus, homosexuality came to be seen as an alternative, fashionable, and often preferred lifestyle.

This is clearly not a "mental illness or personality disorder" as it was thought of in the earlier part of the 20th century. Homosexuality is a form of social behaviour, which is caused by failure of governments to educate the people on the correct use of their reproductive process.

Leaving aside the issue of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, homosexuality corrupts human nature. Like drug addicts, smokers, and alcoholics, homosexuals think that they are enjoying themselves. And, like drug addicts, smokers, and alcoholics, homosexuals pay for this enjoyment by corrupting their body and soul. The life style of some pop stars dominated by homosexuality, drugs and alcohol is an example of this phenomenon. But the Social Establishment presents such pop stars as role models for young people. A man who has been sodomized will have difficulties in living a normal married life, will become dependent on male "partners", and will waste his life in his unnatural pursuits. This unnatural life style will deprive him from normal psychological development and will prevent him from the enjoyment of normal life.

This is why homosexuality was condemned as sin by Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. The prophets understood the need to educate the people in the correct use of the gift of human reproduction. The Qur'an contains many passages explaining the human reproductive process.

By failing to educate the people about the correct use of sex, personal hygiene and family building, governments fail in their duty before the people. This leads to moral decay of the society.

The passages of the Qur'an on the correct use of sex, personal hygiene and family building can provide today's parents and educators with guidance on the correct upbringing of the future generations.

But what about the present day homosexuals? Can they find their way to normal life?

Their position is similar to that of people suffering from other forms of addictive behaviour drugs, alcohol and tobacco. A person suffering from addictive behaviour needs to perform the following steps

To understand that his behaviour is bad. While most addicts know at the back of their minds that their behaviour is not good, they find ways of excusing or glamorizing their behaviour. The Qur'an describes this phenomenon by a vivid phrase "The Devil has made their actions seem beautiful to them".

In case of the addictive behaviour involving association with other addicts, break out of this association, or from its influence. Victims of addictions often seek company of people with similar addictions. Addicts also seek to seduce others to their addiction or to encourage them to continue being its victim. One needs to learn to say "No" to such people and to avoid their company.

To learn to overcome the urge. Whenever one feels the urge to smoke, drink, take drugs, or a sexual urge outside of the framework of heterosexual marriage, one needs to think of the harmfulness of that urge and of the harmful consequences that yielding to it would produce. Having convinced oneself of the harmfulness of yielding to the urge, one should turn to some useful and healthy activity. Life is a precious gift. One should not waste it on polluting one's lungs with nicotine, debilitating one's mind with drugs or alcohol, or abusing one's reproductive process by perverse unnatural practices.

Such struggle against harmful urges (the jihad of the soul) can be difficult and can continue throughout one's life. But winning this struggle brings great rewards - a healthy, satisfying and productive life.
