    siki,
if I understand your comments correctly, it seems you are implying I choose one option over another due to it allowing me to break fast quicker.

I think your comment is a good indicator of the strength of your argument.

Perhaps, rather than asking who agrees with truthseeker, you should ask if anyone agrees with you.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

        Karwa Chauth Fast

Karwa Chauth fast preparations are made before dawn. Suhagins (married Hindu women) wake up at around 4 am and take their bath. After performing daily prayers women in the family gather together and consume food items collectively called ?sargi?. Apart from food, the sargi also includes fruits and sweets. Traditionally, the sargi is given to the woman by her mother-in-law. After the sargi, women observing Karwa Chauth fast do not consume even a morsel of food or a drop of water. Some modern day women who find the fast too rigorous consume water or milk during the day. Pregnant or sick women are also given a leeway during the fast and are allowed to consume fruits or any other food item considered necessary in their condition. Interestingly, many loving husbands too observe a fast for the sake of their wife. Though there is no such tradition, they do so out of love for their wife. The rigorous Karwa Chauth fast is broken only after moonrise which usually occurs after 8 pm.

                Wakas,

After knowing you long enough I am not implying any thing, but just experimenting on a little bit of leg pulling. But then again , knowing you, it is a bit of surprise for me and I am afraid that is not pleasent enough. Did you really go through this thread thorougly? And if yes , do I dare ask , as to what made you still think that way ?

fasting is only for those who witness the relevant full-moon / month.

It may have only worked for those in the UK. I used that link because the new free-minds website does not seem to have all articles uploaded yet.

In any case, use this link instead
                          http//web.archive.org/web/20071102185353/http//free-minds.org/articles/science/timing.htm

Yes, it is in Quran. I strongly recommend using sites like www.studyquran.org

Using the above site, one can simply look up the topic list under "R" for "ramadan" and you will see the verse I'm referring to there.

Anna! The article reference by wakas does not contain any answer to your question.

And also, I do not have a very satisfying answer for your intelligent querry. I have refered it to brother ayman in hot ramdhan thread, lets wait for his answer.

Interestingly though at this point in time , I agree with his revolutionary Schorching red moon theory, but minus his recommendation of breaking fast at sun set. Which I expect of him to amend, as we have stumbled upon some new evidence from the great reading in favour of layal not starting at sun set (Ghoroub/ Daluk ul shams)

Let me put it as simply as I can

Ayman's article (http//web.archive.org/web/20071102185353/http//free-minds.org/articles/science/timing.htm) makes a case for "shahr" meaning "full-moon" and even references 2185, see quote below

                                1. The full moon of scorching heat is when the reading was descended as a guidance for people and clarifications from the guidance and the criterion, so whomever witnesses the full-moon, let him abstain it. And whomever was sick or traveling so a count of other days. The God wants to facilitate and not make it hard on you. And so complete the count and magnify The God for what He guided you and perhaps you would be thankful.

I have highlighted in bold the relevant part to the question. If one is able to witness it, you then comply by swm/abstaining/fasting.

Thus, the only question you have to ask yourself is in the areas where it is daylight or night for months is it possible to witness such an event?

If you answer no, then you do not swm/abstain in that period and are given options in 2184. Simple.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

Ayman's article may make a case for you and a few others, but many of us who have given solid references from the Qur'an do not take his understanding of "shahr" meaning "full-moon" therefore please, do make it clear as a moderator that its not a unanymous understanding.

Moderator or not, I would recommend no-one take anything they read from any source as fact/truth.

If they read my post, they should also read my signature.

And lastly, if you disagree with any article on free-minds, a rebuttal article is always welcome.

I personally have not reviewed Ayman's article I referred to, however the validity of the article was not the question, and the point I highlighted works just as well if you believe it means "month" as far as I'm aware.

Witness the month, abstain/swm it. Dont, then dont. Simple.

                                      Salaam Wakas,

If you have not personally reviewed Ayman's aritcle then how come you said ....his makes a case for "shahr" meaning "full-moon" and even references 2185, see quote below?

Secondly just because there is no a rebuttal article does not means that Ayman?s version is acceptable to all on this forum. This subject was discussed in detail in the thread "Hot/"ramadan" Answer" refuting Aymans version.

Finally the new design of this website appear to sanction Ayman's vesion of Islam by saying In Islam, a Year is a luni-solar count made of 365-days (1712, 936), with all the seasons fitting-in-place Vs. Sunnis teaching it to be a lunar one based on 354 days which creates confusion of seasons and time?

This is clearly not the unbiased approach on this forum.

                                      peace

                                        peace,

Is saying "makes a case for..." the same as "I agree with his finding that..."? No.

                                          Salam sister Farida,

Nothing is different in the new site apart from the look and Content management system. The best person to contact about the articles themselves would be Layth I think.
