Let us compare few verses from Qoran to get the real meaning of " cutting" that you are asking about "The thief, male or female, you shall cut ( Mark) their hands as a punishment for their crime, and to serve as an example from God. God is Almighty, Most Wise". "... and gave each of them a knife. She then said to him, "Enter their room." When they saw him, they so admired him, that they cut(Marked) their hands. They said, "Glory be to God, this is not a human being; this is an honorable angel] And 7124 "I will cut off( (Mark off) your hands and feet from alternate sides, then I will crucify you all." In all these verses " cut off" means Mark ie put a marker on hands or put a marker on hands and feet.Also, That is what I think " cut off" means. The word of God has no contradictions in it. Peace.

A person who is truly seeing and hearing of heart will not be deterred or misled by conjecture and customs supported by conjecture, if God wills. So no. Nuns cover their hair and wear modest clothing, much like a hijabi. Yet they are seen as pious women. Yet hijabi women are seen as being oppressed, ignorant, backwards, illogical... How is that not a double standard? So people see what they want to see, perceive things differently depending on the group of people exhibiting behaviours or customs. Yet that is due entirely to their own willful ignorance and biases, it's not the fault of the people who are stereotyped or who are subjected to prejudice. After all, it is the dominant class or group of people who usually dictate and shape these stereotypes, whether or not others support those images or not.

STOPS And it's unfair! When our security took some local men to the police for harassing and trying to rape 2 of our female staff, they went free the next day because one of the guy's father was an important guy and the girls were sent home and their contracts cancelled. That is excately what I hate about the arab gulf countries - discrimmination against foreginers and women are obvious while the local men can get away with anything (except speaking up against the government). Sexual slavery and rape through domestic foreigner female maids is an open secret in Saudi Arabia and UAE but it only happens because the local pervert men can get away with it. That is why I never wanted to live there. The West is much more better, here in the West anyone who commits a crime whether local or foreginer would be punished. I am not 100% agreed upon some understanding of spirits as I need to do further research. If spirits do exist in the traditional sense then I think those people who go out and search for them are probably causing some nuisance to the spirits. Also the existence of Jinns is something that is mentioned in the Quran and therefor something in which we should believe in. I recently finished reading Alif the Unseen and it has Jinns as characters in it. It also touches upon the modern day problem of people believing in the Quran but having this dilemma of believing in the existence of jinn as it doesn't seem to fit. Its a small portion of the book but got me thinking. Has anyone else read this book?

If not all, then atleast an overwhelming majority of the people on this planet will agree that we are human beings. And according to your baseless assertion, we are all wrong. It is always enormously dangerous to speak in general terms. I meant that the majority is wrong in some religious approaches though, same as communism and fascism were wrong in trying to establish the rules and universal laws for all. God and the Qur'an speaks to each and everyone on the individualistic level, and gives the knowledge and enlightenment according to each one soul's rank. No place for the majority rule there!
