@ IAMOP Actually, I answered my own question yesterday while pondering it myself. Yeah that makes sense. @ justamuslim Another good point. I've read that "kill" in the Quran can be used in more than one context. I mean, "daraba" does not always have to mean hit right? The Quran PDF on this site mentions how we should think critically when reading the verses, and accept what makes most sense. To me right now actually, that verse IS looking like it's saying don't "kill" yourself over the subject of money, not suicide per se. But since the husband shooting himself through the brain example seems pretty messed up, I can imagine that verse could be talking about something like that.

Cheers all! Regarding the poem in question, I think it is as good as the intention and feeling behind it... which we don't know unless we closely know the poet. But from my standpoint, I think it is stupid to say that the beauty of a woman lies in EITHER of those things mentioned. I think the beauty of a woman lies in ALL those things mentioned, both submission and leadership, both smile and laughter, not just half of them... but the whole poem lives on the fact that there are some fancy looking set of "opposites". They whole poem is a bit cheezy. Perhaps the poet put more effort into finding word pairs that would fit in the context, than writing out of inspiration and emotion. Perhaps the poem is some sort of apologetic thing, trying to pour perfume and pink petals and rosy lenses on the otherwise limping and fungus-ridden view of woman in Sunnism and the like. Those that see the poem as disgusting... I completely understand that... but that may also have to do with what we think about in connection or extension to the poem, i.e. the traditional religious view of a woman's role, qualities and value. So if we think and remind ourselves of the negative aspects of society, and people's dull and ignorant minds, then I too want to catch fire out of disgust. I'm sick of people/groups who labels others, restricts others, degrade others and thereby shout out their own tremendous and unnecessary ignorance of the true spirit of life and show how extremely fear and lack based their own thinking in practical reality is. I don?t deny that their actions of covering the truth is what makes them kafir, in fact that is my argument. One does believe that they are doing it no doubt, but what I am saying, is that someone who has done it to themselves as in denied the truth after believing it, but that is it and doesn?t try to provoke others to denying the truth too. They are kafirs for covering the truth AFTER they had believed it even if they aren?t doing the action any further to others, however I don?t accept the idea of someone who never believed in the first place to be a kafir as there was no truth in their head to cover for themselves and if they aren?t covering the truth to others either, they are not kafirs in anyways, shape or form. So if a person hasn't believed in God/scripture/signs but instead actively rejects it after exposure to such, they can't be kafirs? If there is 'no truth in their heads to cover', how exactly are they covering it to others? Wouldn't this contradict 'they have to believe it then reject it' concept of yours? They'd need to have something in their mind? You'd need to know what you're doing you know? In this the mind is the first link in a chain to the doing. One doesn't just out of the blue stumble upon a parchment with bad things written on it for example and having no idea what it means starts distributing it to all and sundry calling it the best thing since sliced eel and all other parchments crap. (but didn't know it)" Must pm Edip for his next blockbuster. Like I explained...you need to understand the concept of kufr better. To reject a concept one has to be exposed to it, to actively reject it, one would start extending such in their actions. These actions may affect them and/or the people around them. Sustained or progressive rejection of concepts etc just in the mind without ever affecting actions is improbable. This is why we are what we do and what we are, we do (I'm going to start pasting my quotes around as confucicarrot). This is entirely different from 'no truth in their heads to cover'. We have the ability to recognise God's signs everywhere if we reflect/reason (1612/abraham/etc). To be exposed to God and the truth is not dependent on believing. It's all around us anyways, everything submits willingly or unwillingly (1315) to God. It's when we reason, we really see and when we really see, we accept. When we really accept we start believing etc etc. Problem is that if it is that loose in term this would create a lot of problems. Lets bring an example of something not directly related to the major elements like the afterlife and such but rather...pork. Pork is forbidden in the Quran and whoever believes otherwise is a Kafir. So let?s say a person hands a piece of pork to someone to eat. That so far is not kufr and at most its encouraging haram if it was the one handing it out was a sinning believer. Now if he declared that its allowed in the Quran then that is Kufr as the truth that the Quran conveyed there is has been covered by that false word. Those two are clear cut ones no doubt. Now comes a vague one which the guy gives it to him and simply states that ?its lawful?. Lawful? Lawful in what ways? Lawful to a Buddhist sure, lawful to some countries laws sure, but not lawful to the believer. Basically what i?m getting at is that simply saying something that vaguely isn?t what is kufr , otherwise Buddhists who declare something like pork lawful or simply anyone including the people of the book who vaguely states something is lawful according to his belief which include some different laws due to changes in the their books would be kafirs too. Thus why here we see it state rejection as having to do with the ?Ayats? of God which directly refer to the verses we hear. Thus someone saying something is lawful in the Quran for example, that is kufr as they covered what is the truth with what is false. If someone states simply states that alcohol is lawful...what are they referring to is the question here... to which it might simply be to Judism alcohol is not forbidden by their belief (which is from the book that has been corrupted over time of course) and yet they aren?t deemed kafirs. Thus why it requires cross referencing the Quran for it to count and thus the after life being fake is mentioned without reference to the Quran, I would not think is covering the truth of the Quran as that is vague and the afterlife is quite different from religion to religion. Some say one is sent directly to hell (I believe the ancient Greeks said that), some say everyone is sent to simply another world to continue life as is without judgment (Egyptians), another set says reincarnation (Buddhists, Hindus, and I think Shintos?) and it goes on. I believe only of the Abraham faiths and I also believe Zoroastrianism is there such a direct concept of The Day of Judgment, which therefore why here, it states rejection is a result of covering the truth using the ?verse? of God. Afterall the whole idea of covering the ?truth? clearly refers to the replacing the truth (which the truth IS the Quran) with the false and if its vague it includes pretty much everything that is false too. Giving it a look The two seem to be mocking/ridicule and conversing idly/vainly. The blandly suggested root for the latter constraining oneself wading through water. Applying to say 668, one could say it's a type of conversation which is hindering progress? Not fruitful?...towards what? growth/truth/God? It doesn't help us as contrasted to a conversation leading us/allowing us to grow closer to God. Applying to 969 could be useless/purposeless/futile indulgences/engagements which hindered progress?... towards growth/truth/God? In reference to other verses it's connected with rejection. Maybe it means wading through things/conversations not exactly aware of what the significance is/what lies beneath? 668 types of conversation that are mostly oblivious to truth? Since it's still connected to rejection/what the rejectors do, it would be something that would not help us get any closer to God/growth/truth...But maybe it doesn't mean that, maybe it's got nothing to do with wading through and water and horses, maybe the way I'm taking Lane's strangely worded little summary is completely off. Even if we take the commonly translated idle/vain talk/indulgences/engagements...it's still connected to rejection/what the rejectors do. Idle/vain having the idea in itself of being useless/in vain. In contrast to the concept of having a use/a purpose. What use or purpose could that be? Obviously towards God as opposed to away. Now does this apply to an argument about which pokemon is the best using Noah's animals? If someone is unsure, or says yes...I have nothing further to say. Hmmm okay but Rejection on its own is covering the truth, so one can cover the truth by saying something like ?Alcohol is allowed in the Quran? which is straight up without any ridicule as far as I can see. One would state his belief by saying ?Alcohol is lawful to me? he isn?t cover the truth , even though he may have already covered the truth for himself earlier, but that time has passed and we are more talking of the now. Then you got rejection with ridicule which is saying something bad about it at the same time as covering the truth like ?The Day of Judgment is utter crap and is faker than sorecery?. Well true it does but it still shows that God has kept the verses as a separate subject from Himself. Course they are connected based on the interpretation of God that we get from the Quran and thus why we have been told not to cover the truth which includes our interpretation of God. God differentiating using different subjects is not saying "also I just wanna throw it out that the part I just stated that said ?God is fake? probably wouldn?t be included in this verse at all as God is separate from his verses I think". The fact that you feel very remorseful about it is a good thing. That fact that you are in anguish about doing it over and over again even though you say sorry is a good thing too. (The anguish, not doing it over and over again) Allah will judge everyone according to their circumstances. Your anguish clearly means you are fighting a war that you have not yet won, and I hope that you win this war, and if not, I hope that you consistently seek Allah's forgiveness everytime you lose a battle in this war. Also, like I said, Allah will judge everyone according to their circumstances. Someone who was born dirt poor and who stole to feed themselves or their family, versus someone who was the pampered child of billionaires who stole simply for the thrill will not both be judged the same by Allah.

I apologies I read a lot of the posts in this website, and I can't get a clear answer about him, so I was wondering if someone knew a post I could refer to, or a website I could refer to, that is reliable and not full of claiming that he is a pig, and deserves to go to hell without actually saying why he is wrong. I realize people here do like the hadith free Islam, but I am wondering, why do you guys not like him? what was he wrong about? I will be very honest, I am very gullible sometimes, but I do move with instincts, and I came across his videos by complete accident, and I think I was looking for how to pray in Islam, although I knew how it is done, but I just never felt right praying the way I was taught to pray, I wanted to make sure I am not just doing whatever. Anyways at the first glance he seemed very refreshing to me, I almost said wow he seems like a messenger or something, and it was so WEIRD!!!, because I was like here I am being silly...but then I find out he actually said that he is, that kinda hooked me on, but I want to make sure I am not being superstitious...or that I just like him because of what he seems/talks about. I am horrible with math, and numbers really frighten me, I will try to get my calculator and see what he meant, but his story sounded exactly like a story of the Qur'an. So without much further babbling by me. Why do most people who even believe in Qur'an 'only'...even say things like they hate him. I want to learn!!! PLEASE HELP. Salam Philosopher, I'm against the destruction of any historical sites.. Many would argue that the destruction of historical site is because of the examples of the previous prophets..but not all examples of the prophets had a good impact on the actor.. for example, nabi ya3qoob withheld a dream of Yousouf AS, so then he became temporarily blinded for some time.. nabi mu7ammad SAW frowned on the blind man, so he was warned by Allah SWT with the chapter 3abasa.. dzan noon (CMIIW) refused to preach to his people so he was swallowed by the whale.. etc.etc. IMHO Prophet Ibraheem AS destroyed those idols out of ignorance and he tasted the wrath of the people because of his actions and was thrown to the fiery pit.. Allah SWT may have saved him but it can be argued that most probably because the act wasn't worth the death punishment, as he didn't kill a soul but only some stones... wallahua3lam

@kaiokenred interesting article. i don't agree with the direct lineage part - sociopaths being a product of mom or dad who is a sociopath. i personally know sociopaths who come from good family taught right from wrong, raised with moral values, punished for their actions to know that there are consequences. most people think of sociopaths as violent deviants of society. not the case. the number of nonviolent sociopaths is lot higher and they are highly successful like doctors, business persons, etc and they don't all come from dysfunctional family background being a product of their environment. so, it makes me wonder then if sociopath is a genetic disorder or one is born without a conscience then God is the creator of 'evil'. so God creates these souls who are themselves suffering only to be destined to suffer in this life and the next. this just doesn't sit well with me. i know that i will not understand but i have been wondering about this lately.

Golden calf was different since it was the Israelite community Moses was leading and it was an idol the Israelite built. But Abraham story, yes you maybe right. Which is why they wanted to kill him. So he was about to pay a price but God saved him since his intention was good. But u are right about that one. Maybe God is telling us something. Salam, I think Ibraheem AS paid the price of demolishing those idols by being tortured by his tribe; and Allah SAW didn't see any reason for his death, as "killing" idols is not like killing souls.
