Peace Then maybe you should add we don't mind constructive criticism of the Koran as long as the intention is not to mock or insult its believers without the intention to debate. Please, you're not the first and won't be the last to do this, read the forum rules. Being critical is judging with care and precision. When the rules say do not mock, that does not mean, you cannot be critical. non Muslims will see it as do not question the authenticity of the Koran Then non-muslims and you need to brush up on your vocabulary. These conferences are internal... They invite people who are known by the local contacts who are already proven member of the organization. Peace I have recieved no threats but i recieved warnings for which i might be going astray if i continue my ways. I wish i could convey better to the people around me the message i understand of the Quran. But so far no one in my family is interested in this issue. I've had discussions with my freinds in which they acknowledge what i say but whether they continue to think about what i say or change some of their beliefs, i don't know. Same for me - my husband has repeatedly warned me of going "astray". I am working on showing him things that are contradictory between the hadiths & the Qur'an - he's not even aware of the women-degrading hadiths, and didn't believe me until I showed him one in my Bukhari collection. I no longer get wudu the "Sunni" way, but the way the Qur'an states to do so. I get wudu alone so I don't have to deal with my husband's reaction as I know he follows tradition w/o thinking. My MIL has told me that "questioning the hadiths is a sin". She is much older and more set in her ways. She believes that Arabs/Salafis are the best example of Islam ... I'm not sure I can get through to her after a lifetime of her following others.

I?m on the fence with this, too. The idea that Becca can somehow mean Mecca is absurd. But before the establishment of the Temple in Jerusalem (Becca) by Solomon, the Israelites had numerous ?shrines? dedicated to God that acted kind of like Mosques. Supposedly only Priests could dedicate them (this might be a Jewish gloss) but before the institution of the Cohen (priesthood) all the Avot (patriarchs) could dedicate shrines. It would be perfectly believable that the Kaaba could be a shrine built by Ishmael and his father and that the Arabs preferred that shrine over any other due to familiarity. Of course Sunni and Shia go one further and ascribe to Mecca everything the Jews ascribe to The Temple. All of which is forbidden by the Quran. If God doesn?t create leaving fissures, how can you say Mecca is earth?s belly-button? And it?s certainly not the center of the earth ? that would assume a flat earth. I?d have no problem buying that the Kaaba in Mecca is an acceptable shrine if the Quran was less ambiguous about it. The Maqam Abraham is completely blown out proportion by ?Orthodox? Muslim exegetes. Marwa and Safa could easily be Moriah and the Stone of the temple. Jews believed that after the destruction of The Temple these areas were off limits, but the Quran seems to say that it?s acceptable to approach them. Might explain why Christians of the time felt compelled to dump dead animals and dung and rubbish on top of it. But even if you try to reconcile the Bible with Quran, where does that leave The Temple now? After the Muslims took Jerusalem, why not return pilgrimage there? Does everyone get their own shrine based on history? Where does that leave converts outside either Semitic group? It?s tempting to say that the same thing happened to the Arabs that happened to Christians and Jews. Once they were dominated by converted pagans they filled the faith with their previous bad habits. The ?stoning of the devil? and life-threatening circling is flatly recorded as Avodah Zara by the Jews (in relation to rituals practiced by Romans and Persians at the time) well before the advent of The Prophet. And you don?t have to be a Jew or a cynic to see why. Bottom line, I?m not sure what conclusion to draw. Peace Samson, What do you make of 4131? Is it your belief that this verse is also not inclusive of people? How about 383? 63? 2284? 329? I believe these verses also use "FI" as the qualifier? None of those signs will be inclusive of people when it says "what is in the heavens and in the Earth", otherwise are the people being addressed in the heavens also? God gives a general analogy between "what is in the heavens and in the Earth" and the people. In other words, it is an analogous relationship, and not an inclusive one. Peace

Unfortunately; nobody had Muhammad/Ahmad's birth certificate.. thus no one know for sure what's his name when he was born about 1400 years ago.. I also haven't found an evidence of a Quraish / Arabs (Middle and Southern Arabs that is) named "Muhammad" / "Ahmad" prior to Muhammad "The Prophet" time.. Thus not sure whether "Muhammad" is a common Quraish / Meccan Arabic name originally.. (According to Sunni's traditionalist belief; Muhammad was supposedly from Quraish Tribe and born in Mecca) The oldest script that I came across that mention a similar name to Muhammad (which is Machmad) or Ahmad (which is Amed) is on the Book Of Jasher (originally written in Hebrew). The only 'indication' derived from that statement was; Jesus was telling his Israelites follower that God will sent another messenger to them, but this time they should expect that the next messenger will came from the Ishmaelites.. (which was still their cousins anyway, and FYI a lot of Ishmaelites during Jesus's time also lived in the kanaan/near Jerusalem region, embraced Judaism, although they are known to have a separate 'group' / 'sect' different from the Israelites). Sent down or handed down or given means the religion that comes with the scriptures. The Tawrat is not what Gabriel revealed word by word. I think the Tablet came directly from God word by word, there was the 10 commandments in them. But the Koran can mean here the religious knowledge that the scriptures contain.

Peace all, What is most puzzling that God taught Jesus the Book, the Wisdom, the Torah and the Injeel but taught Mohammed the Book and the Wisdom only. The Book that was taught to Mohammed is a confirmation of what was brought by Moses and taught to Jesus. The Wisdom could be the criterion or what the Jews call the Mitzva or the Negative commandments that can be carried out on a personal level. Then it gets more problematic when you put the Quran in, what is the relation of the Book to the Quran? Who includes who? What are the seven pairs? Peace everyone, I could not find this term in the qur'aan. How can someone ask qur'aanic questions relevant to a term that is nonexistant in the qur'aan? How can someone use a non-qur'aanic term and then ask others to bring qur'aanic evidence relevant to the non-qur'aanic term? Gas in the digestive tract can be expelled from the mouth (belching/burping) or from the rectum (flatus).
