Peace, What keeps me wondering is... Did he kept standing on this place while building the kaaba... did not he move around? Also, the height on the kaaba.. he could not have make is this high with such a low standing point. However, we don't know how high the kaaba was originally... the place where he stood.. is it a rock which is used as a bench and moved around or is it a fixed place on the land? I see the maqaam to mean stance more logical. However, have not cover this part yet. Need to do more research on it insha allah.

A prophet is naby while a Rasool is anyone God sends and they can be angels also but also punishment like the chapter of the Elephant. Its I guess a question of who a message is sent to. Actually the Chapter of the elephants uses the verb of rasool meaning we sent them. Rasool then is somebody sent while the message is the risala. Naby is a prophet who comes to warn people about the punishment and God's account. It could be used in other ways in the Koran. Sunnis say Rasool comes with Shariah while prophet's don't. This is not Koranic and relies on the abrogation theory. Other have said naby is a person while rasool comes with scriptures. This could be correct. However the Koran I think used Rasool for the prophet who warned about slaughtering the cow. It never said he came with scriptures plus i am not sure the Injeel is a scripture like the Koran. There is no indication that divine words came to Jesus externally and there is no indication of that with Moses except for the tablet. Other than that they were told what to do or in Moses case God talked to him but in a converstaion manner and not like the Koran which is a message structure. Many prophets in the OT also communicated with God but it does not seem like the Koran which was sent to multiple audiences as well as to Muhammad. The Koran talks to everyone while there is no indication of a Koranic scripture with the other prophets but i maybe wrong. However it seems to me that the verse that says Muhammed is a messenger and the seal of the prophets indicate the meaning I gave in the beginning. Messenger meaning he was sent by God and naby means he was sent as a prophet. Shirk in the Koran is the belief in more than one God. There is more to it than that. It is also shirk if you call on other people in your prayers/mention their names. Eg. when you call on Muhammad in your prayers you are commiting shirk, when you recite the at-tahiyatu and sunni shahada you are commiting shirk (and also, by reciting the sunni shahada you are favoring Muhammad over other messengers). When you prohibit other things than God has, such as dietary restrictions it is shirk, etc. Peace

Peace, I consider "race" arbitrary. There are no white or black people. There are people who are light and dark and alot of color in between the two extremes. Everyone, go and grab someone who's lighter or darker than you and mix. If that's what it takes to kill the idea of race. There are evil people who are light and evil people who are dark. We all do the same things. We can all meld into any culture. I disagree with this, to an extent. There are "original people", and then there are other people who don't fit this criteria. They don't have to be characterized as "black" or "white" to fit these two mold, they only have to display the physical characteristics of the groups, which includes skin color. Interracial mixing creates confusion and a lack of heritage, even though I'm not personally against it. Some people would rather preserve their ethnical and national identity and heritage, passing it on to their children, and this makes them against intermixing races and cultures... Also, mixing races won't eliminate the problem of racism, it'll only reduce it to a smaller factor. It won't be black versus white, it'll be lighter skinned versus darker skinned. It'll turn into curly hair versus straight hair, or wider nose versus slim nose. People have a way of discriminating against others who don't fit the mold, regardless of what the individual characteristics are. They'll always create reasons to hate others because they look or act differently than "everyone else". This is already the case when it comes to black and white racial groups. A prime example of this was Adolf Hitler's plan to turn the "white" Germans against the "white" Jews. If race (or color) is not the target of the hatred, the target will become something else... Hi All, I was wondering. Have you ever heard of a Quran Only person who has had at least the reputation to be a Mystic/Saint/Pure ???? I am wondering. If you have, please post some names and links if possible. Thanks Many here will disagree with me but I always found the Sufis more Koranic than the strict theologians of Sunni/Shia Islam. This is because in their madrasas, they usually stick to Arabic and Koranic memorization and recitation. Plus they are not as obsessed with fiqh as the theologians are. Sufis differ in the sense of their attachment with piety. They see piety as a connection between man and God. Most of all, Sufis are mostly apolitical but they differ from country to country. The Sufis in Sudan are more fiqh oriented than in Morocco or Tunisia or Indonesia. The Sufis in Egypt I don't know much about. There is also universalist Sufism like Inayat Khan followers in America. They are the closest in my mind to the Koranic persuasion than the others. Islamic fiqh is the most distant from the Koran and I see the more you hold on to them the further you will get from the Koran.

Is that precisely true, for example I have been booted out of numerous forums for apparently no other reason, than I have happened to have a different opinion to that of the moderators. Now, forums are private organizations and I accept it is legitimate that they can have rules, so for example if say there is a Catholic forum and they have a rule that all postings must be in compliance with the "fact" as they would see it, that, Jesus was God's only begotten son and if a poster sought to argue that Jesus was was not the son of God, it would be at the discretion of the moderators to boot the poster out or not, but in many forums one can be in total compliance with the stated forum rules and seeming ethos of the forum and be booted out merely for having different opinions to the moderators. For example would it be acceptable here to argue that Jesus was the son of God and the Koran was in error on that or would one get booted for that? This is a big problem as Islam after 9-11 is being attacked and many Muslims find out that many of the things these critics(Robert Spencer, Daniel Pipes, Ayaan Ali, Irshad manji, Wafa Sultan etc) are saying are not lies but actual truths regarding "Islamic" teachings that many Islamic activists and clerics either hid or tried to spin. They then feel disappointd or feel under seige as they are not able to defend these teachings anymore. Some decide to apostate from Islam altogether. Many of us here went through stages where we were Ikhwanis, then Salafis, then maybe Sufis(traditionalist) before realizing the difference between them is fictitous. But by being active we were able to find the Koranic way which as a literature that was burried under all these scholarly books and hadiths that it is almost impossible to know what the Koran actually says. Even now, I am still learning the Koran and still find myself realizing that the Koran says different things than what I thought. This even though I have been frequenting this site for almost three years now. Its very hard to know the Koran when you are already told in your home, school and mosques what Islam is and isn't. Thats why this website is very important as it gives people to opportunity to know the Koran. Many Muslims simply do not really know what the Koran has to say about issues because they already have a preconceived notion of the Koran. You have to detoxicate yourself from everything you were told and believed and this is not easy and takes time. When many of those who apostated from Islam watch me debate non Muslims and refute their criticism, many of these ex-Muslims and even Sunnis are confused and many think i am lying. They can't believe that so many things in Islam are not Koranic and even contradict the Koran. They can't believe the verses I quote and the ease I silence the critics. "This can't be Islam" they tell themselves. "This all can't be just hadiths and not the Koran. The Koran can't be actually saying these things. All these verses about freedom and justice and tolerance and all these verses that seems to contradict what Sunnis and Shias say, this can't be true." This trend will continue if the only people speaking for Islam are Sunnis or Shias. They can not defend Islam from their critics because these are the teachings of these sects. Many of the Sunnis like the way i am defending Muhammad from his critics, but deep down they know this is not what they were taught and is contrary to the Islam they know and believe and are confused. They are not able to defend Muhammad from his critics and find themselves invoking the old" what about the Bible, what about Christianity and the West, you are no better". Other than that they can't do anything else. On the other hand you have the Jews and Christians. They hate to recognize the Koranist as being true representatives of the Koran because the attacks they use against Islam are almost exclusively hadith based. They are not able to attack the Koran so they try to only give legitimacy to sectarian Islam by saying we are just a few people, and we are not considered Muslims by mainstream Islam and the Koran is insufficient on its own because its vague and ambiguous and we need hadiths to understand Islam. They talk just like Sunnis and repeat the Sunni jargon. They do this because the hadith to them is the golden treasure they need to attack Islam. These trends I have noticed in many forums withing the groups I said. The ex Muslims, religious Sunnis and Jewish or Christian critics. The others are laid back. That is a very nice speech Bigmo, but if I am right in thinking you are the same Bigmo as posts in the Liberalforum, you are exhibiting the same characteristic you frequently do there, of talking at me not with me, in that I can not see what relevance my prior remarks have, to what you have said. peace progressive, I would like to clarify one of your statement here, After a long and thorough research , I am of the opinion that the usual understanding of quranic layal starting from sun set, is wrong. The quranic layal starts with the darkness of the night which one could take any time 15 mins to 1 hours 30 mins( depends where you are on the globe) and definitely not at sun set. If you or any body wants, I can refer a thread for detailed understanding. The overlapping periods (first light to sun rise and sun set to last light) are referred as fajr and esha respectively, in quran peace siki It is not me who said this, it was Edip in the footnote of "Quran A Reformist Translation".
