Even if you support your views with quraanic verses/ways of word usage and they do not conform to his understanding he accuses you of manipulation and bias. I agree he has a lot to offer, and I agreed with him on more points than we disagreed, but I do not understand why, when it comes to polygamy and men's/women's role he loses it completely. If you read his earlier posts, he was very nice and understanding, even in discussing polygamy. Maybe too many people attacking him puts him on the defensive and makes him more aggressive. If we are all calm and soft, aggression will not last long. We should learn to calm each other and ignore the harsh language in their posts. They will definitely give it up at the end. Remeber Violence begets violence. ;;; I agree;;;

Peace, No more voting possible? Was a time limit put? Id vote for "shaytaan". As brother Arnold explained "shaytaan" comes from the root "sht" which means to cut off from rational thought. This exists within humans themselves. It is our so called alter ego or our irrational side and so by blaming "shaytaan" in the true sense of the word we are actually blaming ourself. Ofcourse if one believes "shaytaan" to be some sort of mythical supernatural creature thatd be a different story. GOD Bless!

Why is it that in a jury, a majority is not enough, you have to have a unanimous vote? Democracy doesn't work because most people don't think for themselves. They follow what they want to follow, they let their emotions lead them. We know from history how easy it is to manipulate the masses (Hitler, Stalin, Bush). Especially in a country as large as the US or India there's no way the people can have true representative democracy. But still, I'd still pick democracy over a monarchy, dictatorship or theocracy. At least in a democracy you have a chance of bringing about change. Democracy isn't perfect, it is susceptible to corruption (I don't think a "true democracy" can last very long, definitely not 200 years), but I wonder if this is really the best we can do. It seems to me that the flaws of democracy are the result of the flaws in human nature. Salaam Power corrupts and no one should get too much power be it lobbyist or dictators or secret societies behind democratic political parties.. peace

peace all, For example, a penalty for adultery is clearly defined, while no punishment is laid down for consumption of alcohol does this mean that drinking of it is allowed? Details such as the penalty for drinking were left to the Prophet and his successors to establish as sunna. To give a hundred lashes for adultery there is clear cut order as to who shall mete out the punishment and also before the witness of whom the punishment shall have to be carried out. Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if you are Mumin and let a party of Mumins witness their punishment. Then who is a mumin? Successful indeed are the believers Who are humble in their prayers Who avoid vain talk; Who are active in deeds of charity; Who abstain from sex. But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors; Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants; And who pay heed to their prayers. Ultimately, there is none who can claim himself to be Pure or Mumins; Allah purifies who He Wish; and lets all others go astray who He Wish; and none knows who belongs to which category. So there is no way anyh can punish any. Now is the time for us to think afresh on Quranic behaviour.

Peace, I'm not surprised at all. I have lived in Malaysia in a state named Kelantan and it was muslim ruled and of shafii sect. I have been married with a guy from there during 15 years and I was also many years in that sect yuck The shafii sect is very strict and you cannot touch Quran without ablution and you cannot have pictures on the wall and on your curtains etc. When people are so blind and are like parrots well it's not strange that they come up with silly things like this, forbid nonmuslims using the term "Allah". Once when I was younger and still married to that shafii guy, I came in contact with a woman from Eritrea on a job I have back then. I heard her talked in phone one day and she said " Assalamu Alaikum", later I asked her-are you muslim?, she said that she is christian but speak a language close to Arabic. So, I found out that it's not only religious words but basic language they use both muslims, christians and more. Maria

The universe is big, so big we can't imagine how big it is. Then you see how powerful is God. And what amazes me more is that the universe will be replaced by another universe for Day Of Judgement. It's hard to imagine the universe being soooo big as it is now imagine in the next life ??? PEACE

I believe in a just God. However, what I'm having problems digesting is the idea of a soul being punished forever for something which was done for a very short time. It doesn't make sense to me. And this is of course because I don't know everything, quite simply. Maybe my problem arises part from not being able to grasp the real nature of time and infinity, and not being able to see actions for what they actually are. What I'm also wondering is how good an understanding "we" actually have of the quran as of now. How far from correct interpretations are we, and how much does it matter? I guess we are not supposed to have it all served on a silver plate... life's supposed to be dealt with with effort. confused Ulf

Salam, My view Abraham`s vision was from God 37105; It was in responce to the prayer of Abraham for God to show them their rites made in 2128; The message was that the animal sacrifice is a great cornerstone in God`s system equivalent to giving the life of your own flesh and blood - hence the animal sacrifice in Hajj 2236.
