Peace be upon you, The story of Joseph is about being at peace as we complete the course destined for us. There will be many tests but we must remain pure(beautiful) like "joseph". Just as thier is destiny for the cycles of farming, so are all things based on cycles. Knowing this gives us understanding of the future. And just as we know the seeds we plant are the fruits we reap, same with the mental seeds we plant and VISION. This story has MANY MANY symbolisms to this story, all of which I do not understand fully, but we can coninue to discuss ideas.

peace, JM, I asked YOU what difference it made to the meaning of the sign, if any. You still have not answered. What difference in the meaning of the sign ? I don't know. I cannot know it, because I don't know what would be the meaning of the sign if walliya in falanuwalliyannaka would be seen as imperfect active instead of imperative. Secondly, PRL consists of sources. It is not my own work. If you wish to debate with the sources of grammar, contact author of DofQ (Abdul Mannan Omar) islamusa.org or CofQ author (Professor Hanna E Kassis) kassis(at)unixg.ubc.ca / hek(at)interchange.ubc.ca I knew it. But it is a bit confusing to me that the explanations of Ahmed are not the same as the conclusions of these authors. Also, I would like to point out, the grammar aspect of PRL will likely be the last part to be completed fully. After root occurrences (now done) and meanings (being done). Wakas That's good news ! StudyQuran is a very good tool, and I enjoy it a lot. Many thanks for this great work. Peace

Salam mz357, Salaams All, Just pondering not that I am a pig eater - The word Khanazeer = a deseased animal ,as well, So why shouldn?t it be taken as such. 005.003 Forbidden to you (for food) are dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine???. Or 005.003 YUSUFALI Forbidden to you (for food) are dead meat, blood, the flesh of the diseased???.. http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume2/00000368.pdf Salaams. JK- Thats because my dear bro mz THE GRAMMATICAL FORM USED IN 53 "LAHM UL KHINZEER(CAN ONLY MEAN FLESH OF SWINE)" WITH THE DEFINITE ARTICLE ONLY IN THE MIDLLE DOES NOT ALLOW THE LATTER WORD TO BE AN ADJECTIVE. This has been explained over and over again. Your above staed meaning of the word can apply if the form would have been "AL lahm UL khinzeer" (can mean the swinish/diseased meat) with the definite article preceding both or in case of "lahmun khinzeer(can also mean both)" where it doesnt precede either of them. Do you understand it now? GOD Bless!

You mean there are commandments in the Qur'an? I wouldn't really take any of them for commandment. If someone wants to adopt a creed for whatever reason, I guees it's a choice of their own. I just don't see the corelation between a creed and a big pile of different advices. Moreover to come up with a selection of ten among these guys. Oh ok. Well fair enough.

Thank you Tay I believe my example is almost adentical because it started with fruits and PALM TREES and a type of fruit "Romaan" exactliy like Angels and Messengers and Gebrial and Michail because Palm tree is not really a fruit in addition not all palm trees produce dates, so consider similar to the messengers, then a tuype of fruit was mentioned as Gebrial, the only diffrerence will be Two examples of the angels were used in comparison with one example of the fruits was used peace bro

i dont know much arabic , but in urdu "dunya" is used for "world" . but "aalam" is used for things other than the "world" too , right ? Hello in the arab world "Aalam is used more than Donya to refer to this world for example "The Map of the World" is called "Kharitat Al Aalam" we can not say it the "Kharitat Al Donya" in fact we never call it this way, and there numerous referal to the Aalam by the arabs and they only mean this world in fact the true translation to the english world "The world" should be "Al Aalam" they also refer to the arabic countries all togther as "Al Aalam Al Arabi" ie "The Arabic world" salam. here is hlatif's explaination that i found on another forum alAAalameena The Worlds/ everything and everyone/all AAalameen is a derivative of the word Ain-L-M which comes from Knowledge or knowing. Therefore al AAalameen is the plural of AAaLAM and that word means known. This makes Al AAaLAMEEN meaan The knowns, in the most concrete form. Since GOD knows everyone and everything, then THE KNOWNS are Everyone and Everything, basically all. So, my understanding is in concert with yours. One thing that you have to be careful with this word as you look it up at openburhan is that there are two words that look alike in Arabic but that have different meanings AAaLAM and this is our word and it means known AAaLEM and it means knowing They both look the same in the Arabic but have different vowels that will not appear in the Arabic word unless you indicate it with some marks. Thank you Saladin Bro I have no problem acceoting that Donya repsent this life, I just wanted to show that the common word in Arabic for The World is "Al Aalam" so for me when I hear "Donya", I always recognise it as this testing life "Aalam", I always recognise it as this world (like heaven and earth and possibly other things that we don't know", And I believe the above is just to be very accurate from the Arabic language point of view, however it will not be wrong if swapped around as I stated earlier it seems it is a common knowledge in the Arab world "Al Aalam Al Arabi" to refer to the world as "Al Donya", and it will sound reasonable to me as well, but I don't use it and many other arabs don't you will also notice if you ask a few arab friends that "Donya" will be a hard word to have a plural, in fact I never heard of it, sort of we have one life hey lol , just a note bro but "Al Aalam" commonly have a plural in Arabic, in fact the Quran put the word "Al Aalam" in a plural in one location in the Quran peace

Mashallah My favourite is 1028-29 One day shall We gather them all together. Then shall We say to those who joined gods (with Us) "To your place! ye and those ye joined as partners". We shall separate them, and their Partners shall say "It was not us that ye worshipped! Enough is Allah for a witness between us and you we certainly knew nothing of your worship of us!" and then in 1035, it is clear that guidance can only come from God, no man on earth past or present has the power to guide. Say "Of your partners is there any that can give any guidance towards truth?" Say "It is Allah Who gives guidance towards truth, is then He Who gives guidance to truth more worthy to be followed, or he who finds not guidance (himself) unless he is guided? what then is the matter with you? How judge ye?" peace

Hello brother Nadeem This verse actually rimes with the context ?Allah misguides whoever wants to be misguided" and those kafara wants to be misguided because they rejected Allah message. So those ?Kafarah? ?Infidels?, when the good happens to them, they think it is because they are good people, hence they will insist on their path and that is exactly what this verse means, Allah is refuting their flawed thoughts which is, because they are given good life it means for them that they are good people and will prosper at the end, while the truth is quite the contrary they are the real losers ?And let not those who disbelieve think that Our granting them respite is better for their souls; We grant them respite only that they may add to their sins; and they shall have a disgraceful chastisement.? (17 -> As we have seen in 3178 , Allah told us this fact about the unbelievers as a general statement ?not directed to anyone? refuting their delusion that they are good people and will prosper but the fact does not stop here because the believers may also wonder why God is giving a good life to those infidels and as you can see the message above was not directed to the believers to answer their wonder. While the above verse is enough of an answer to the believers yet Allah said the same in another location and was directed to Mohammad, ironically it is in the same sura, let?s have a look 196-?Let it not deceive you that those who disbelieve go to and fro in the cities fearlessly.? 197- ?A brief enjoyment! then their abode is hell, and evil is the resting-place? (196) (197) -> Can you see bro how the Quran repeated the same message with different words and a warning to us? Well, this warning to the believers was repeated again ?None dispute concerning the communications of Allah but those who disbelieve, therefore let not their going to and fro in the cities deceive you.? (4) The fact that Allah is giving those infidels respite until they die was repeated again in another location, in here we will see that they are just been tricked 182- ?And (as to) those who reject Our communications, We draw them near (to destruction) by degrees from whence they know not.? 183- ?And I grant them respite; surely My scheme is effective.? (182) (183) Look bro how the Quran repeated the message with slight change in letters and words below 44- ?So leave Me and him who rejects this announcement; We will overtake them by degrees, from whence they perceive not? 45- ?And I grant them respite; surely My scheme is effective.? (44) (45) Allah also told us that His scheme applied on all towns which He gave respite while it was unjust ?And how many a town to which I gave respite while it was unjust, then I overtook it, and to Me is the return.? (4 A few real examples were given ?As well as those of Madyan and Musa (too) was rejected, but I gave respite to the unbelievers, then did I overtake them, so how (severe) was My disapproval.? (44) Peace be with you bro

You may be interested in the following http//mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/think-786/disproved_salatequalsprayer.htm One of the things I'd change in the above article is "assail IN your system/obligation" in 912. This weakens the traditional understanding of deen=religion. Another thing I thought of was that it states "and THEY (muAAtadoona/transgressors/wrongdoers) assail in YOUR deen". Now traditional interpretations of these signs say the muAAtadoona have become Muslims, if that is the case, why separate them by THEY and YOUR. This clearly shows they are still thought of as separate groups, as the article points out. Wakas

the point is, cutting the hands is way too much or a punishment for that crime, because if my hands are cut, i will never have a decent life as well all the world may look at me as a thief even after I have paid the tough life long penalty of loosing the hand, it is going to be a tough life indeed and for the rest of it i will let the quran decide what right or wrong ,and what is too much or too less . like when i found out that the quranic punishment of theft is cutting hands , i accepted it , because quran is the criterion . our thoughts and opinions about too much or too less are not the criterion . thats how i study . just telling .

peace are you guys sure the arabic word in the Quran is "wife." Coz it could be "spouse." But if you think about it, women marrying more than one man is impossible. The existing husband wouldn't allow it. And it doesn't make much sense either as in most societies men are never inferior to women. Its usually the other way around.

peace, I'll have to come back to you on that second part but I think it was part of 20129. I have to make sure though. Also, about the Quran (i dont want to start a debate because i dont have much knowledge about this). as you can see, book n. A set of written, printed, or blank pages fastened along one side and encased between protective covers. this is a dictionary definition of the word "book" When the Quran was "sent down," it obviously wasn't sent down as a book. Maybe the Quran wouldn't have been written down at all, or it could have been written down in some other manner which would label it something other than a book. That's what I meant when I said that the Quran is definately not a book on the other thread. But anyway, what do you think about this article written by Ayman, http//www.free-minds.org/articles/gods_system/name.htm

Salaams Br. Here's the first part 041.037 YUSUFALI Among His Signs are the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the Moon. Do not prostrate to the sun and the moon, but prostrate to Allah, Who created them, if it is Him ye wish to serve. 027.024 YUSUFALI "I found her and her people worshipping the sun besides Allah Satan has made their deeds seem pleasing in their eyes, and has kept them away from the Path,- so they receive no guidance,- Gods Blessings.

Salam Idolfree, I did not say that. There are people alive today that we can WITNESS who are over 100 years old. So lets set the "limit" at 250 years, that should be fair enough. JK- By saying more than around a 100 years i meant more than 70-150 years so theres no need for the limit. Could or DID? Guessing is no substitute for the truth. Further , please explain how more oxygen would lead to a person living until 950 years? Did they also have bigger lungs to hold this "extra oxygen"? Please give us more details. JK- So much of science is inference, please dont forget that. Environmental conditions on the earth were much more suitable for humans to have lived much longer in the past. You can also get some relvant info fro the site www.drdino.com, though i ofcourse wont recommend everything on that site. I spelled LOOKS in capital leters for a reason, your "could be" logic does not SHOW us anything. Please break down the science of it. I do agree that increased oxygen intake allows us to live longer healthier lives (thats why breathing is so important to meditation), but not past the limits of the bodies we have. JK- And thats where your problem lies. Yoou believe the limits are what we see/observe today which is wrong. These have varied and will continue to vary. According to the 2nd law of thermodynamics the universe must be running down and we can see how the environment is deteriorating, not getting better. Hence a logical conclusion is that we once lived longer, much longer. Exactly, how convinent for the position of 950 year living men, and sticks turning into snakes, and seas splitting, none of this verifyable. There are lessons underlying these SYMBOLIC stories. They are not to be take literal on blind faith. Blessings be upon you as well. Most importantly PEACE. D JK- As i said the age factor is plausible. None of the rest is verifiable directly AS YET but you can verify this through the Quran. 1stly the Quran is proved by an awesome mathematical miracle which shows that it is consistent and true. Also the Quran has been true on ALL VERIFIABLE THINGS TILL THIS DAY without exceptions so it is most likely that the other not yet verifiable things which It states are also true. Simple logic which you dont seem to grasp. GOD Bless!

salam 629 O you who believe when you hear/listen the salawaat on day of a gathering hastening /striving/going along upon zikre/remembrance/admonition of Allah and give up(227 the business that is better for you if you did know. Nudiya is passive voice and you omitted to translate the prefix "li". I don't think this is the best translation for the verse. And you're right about 6211. Prophet was the only one ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN SALAT (link/contact) and believers were to participate in it. Leaving traditional salat (prayer/namaz) while it is being done is hilarious.

Peace be upon you Peaceful Muslim, I think I get the deeper meaning of what u r saying and I'd agree with u on this one, though i guess, it can be explained/put in a different way. But then, what are u saying the mind is? conscious or subconscious or both? "Mind" is the sphere of awareness created by the consciousness percieving the subconcious. The part of us that perceives but cant be percieved itself, is immaterial, and it LOOKS out into the world of energy, the densest part being matter. You are not conscious, you are consciousness itself! D
