I was doing some studies and came across the verse 652.. very delayed response but anyway (652) 652 (Asad) Hence, repulse not those who at morn and evening invoke their Sustainer, seeking His countenance. Thou art in no wise accountable for them-just as they are in no wise accountable for thee -and thou hast therefore no right to repulse them for then thou wouldst be among the evildoers. today some muslims do their salat 2 times a day.. other muslims would repulse them, so would that be considered evil doing?? Yep, sure (btw, I didn't say it wouldn't make sense, merely it makes more sense if you include non-muslims in the verse). And do not turn away those who call on their Lord at dawn and dusk seeking His presence; "And do not turn away" strikes me as an odd thing to say to a person who prays twice a day anyway. It's like me and you are both muslims and both pray twice a day, and Allah says to me, "do not turn away from her". Why would I turn away from someone who is both muslim and prays just like me? The verse makes more sense if the "those who call on their Lord and dawn and dusk" are somehow not the followers of Muhammad, but still pray twice a day. Then the command makes a bit more sense. Don't turn away from those people who pray twice a day, regardless if they do not follow that which you follow. ok i see what you mean though i dont think the people addressed were mushrikeen. it seems to imply people who believe in God. and wouldnt the messenger guide those who are doing shirk? he would speak out for justice so not saying anything seems odd. so in a sense they could be muslim if they believed in god and did good.. thats my understanding, Allahu alem.

Another evidence to support salat = commandment. If you missed God's commandment (by doing bad deed, murder, lying, tricked other people for your own selfish benefit, dishonest etc..) You need to repent and amend your bad deed with a good one.

Peace All Zoroastrianism was the religion of the Great Cyrus II. Cyrus II released Jews in babylone and permitted the construction of the second temple. The Mishnah and the Gemara (of Talmud Babylon) were written under Persian political rulers. For Christians, the Mithra cult on wich was based the Christian theology is a branch of Zoroastrianism. Mithra Cult was followed by Romans legions. Emperor Constantin reunified religion in his empire in the council of Nicee, and made a great mix of Judaism, christianism and Mithra cult. For Muslims, The Abbasid dynasty was ruled by old Zoroaster?s family. Many great vizirs were issued from the Zoroaster family of Barmakids. The mother of Harun Al Rashid was an ally of barmakid family and inspired Shehrazade in the famous 1001 Nights. It is the Abbasid caliph Marouan who first told Imam Malek to compile Hadiths. Imam malek died under the reign of Harun Al Rashid. All great compilers of Hadiths appeared during abbasid dynasties and had Zorosater Background. Bukhari was Persian. Imam Muslim was Persian. Tabari was Persian. Abu Dawud was Persian. Tirmidhi was Persian. peace Salaam All Zoroasters are everywhere Peace

I think many people just do not want to make salat, and invent reasons to satisfy themselves. how many rakats, how many salats, what color heifer, how old. Peace It is that many here want to seek truth and not want to follow and hold onto false beliefs.

Peace all Bros and Sis Is a most regular and strict holding of Contact Prayers necessary for Salvation??? hmm Please do reply if you have any view... May Lord Guide us All pr pr pr Peace Harun A relationship needs to be maintained all the time. We have a relationship with the Lord of the Universes. We are the allegiants-subjects-servants of our Rabb-the Sustainer Lord. He the Exalted maintains and discharges all the obligations and responsibilities commensurate with the position of Lord held by Him the Exalted. We are asked to demonstrate our relationship of servitude and allegiance and present ourselves to His Presence occassionally on appointed timings. Maintenance of relationship is a two way process. If we wish to maintain this relationship we have to persistently discharge our obligation. Choice is ours if we wish to be His subjects-allegiants.

Salam Hafeez Kazi & all, QUL 'INNA-MAA 'ANAA BASHAR MITHL -KUM YOH.AA 'ILAY -YA 'ANNA-MAA 'ILAAH -KUM 'ILAAH WAAH.ID FA- ISTAQEMO 'ILAY -HI WA- ISTAGHFIRO -HU WA- WAYL LI- AL- MUSHRIKEN' ALLADHENA LAA YU'TON AZ- ZAKAAH WA- HUM BI- AL- 'AAKHIRAH HUM KAAFIRON 416/7 Say thou "I am but a man like you it is revealed to me by inspiration that your Allah is One Allah so stand true to Him and ask for His forgiveness." And woe, TO the polytheists WHO do not GIVE ZAKAAT and they in the Hereafter are disbelievers. 416/7 From the above two verses we understand that THOSE (MANKIND) WHO keep away from the path of Allah, THOSE (MANKIND) WHO believe not in Allah, in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. But in verse 416/7 the POLYTHEIST WHO (IF) do not GIVE ZAKAAH, in the Hereafter are disbelievers. Verse 417 means those POLYTHEIST WHO give ZAKAAH, they in the Hereafter are BELIEVERS. I do agree that verse 6 & 7 should be read together. So too is verse 8. But I am very curious (I am not saying that you are wrong, please. Just plain curious.) about your understanding, especially when you decided to combine the last part of verse 6 and verse 7. Your understanding is "... And woe, TO the polytheists WHO do not GIVE ZAKAAT and they in the Hereafter are disbelievers." Lets see verse 6 & 7 at this site http//quran.com/41 The 2 verses ombined, we will get this Say, O , "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. However, my understanding of the 2 verses is like this You (s) say, ?Indeed I am a human like you (pl.). It was inspired to me that your god is one single god. So be on a correct course towards Him, and beg for forgiveness. And woe to the Mushrikeen. They are those who do not attain the purity in heart and they, in the end they are the disbelievers." I also agree that verse 7 is an explanation of Mushrikeen of verse 6, but to me it is not necessarily as simple as "a=b". Rather, 'Musrikeen are those impure in heart who finally became disbelievers (of God)'. And to me 'zakat' is 'purity in heart'. As an example, my understanding of 243 is And you (pl.) uphold/correct the relationship (waaqeemoo alssalata) and attain/give the purity in heart (waatoo alzzakata), and acknowledge (wairkaAAoo) together with those people who acknowledge (maAAa alrrakiAAeen). I trust the call is for us to purify our hearts in all of our relatioships (with God, with other people, with nature, etc.). For example, do we expect anything from our nurturing of cordial relationships with friends or other people? Or perheps, do we expect reciprocates from them, like if we are generous to them we do expect them to be generous to us too? Or that since we believe that we are of proper conduct we expect God to present us with 1,000 virgin maidens? brickwall I hope this helps in shedding some light on 'zakat', but otherwise please ignore it. May God guide us all correctly. Cheers! Mohammed Noh

It is a fact according to how i understand the ayah (do you understand it any different?) the ayah is talking to people in general and then simply says if one does such a thing then you must (all) do tayamum. So the argument no way tarnsishes waht Dr Zamman has said. IF QZ and you were being consistent you'd say if one did X then all do tayamum, and if you ALL do y and z, you ALL do tayamum, then, ideally, explained why this was so, but he is silent on the issue. Likewise, you do not actually address the point I raise. The rest of the counter argument can be no different.............it is some one who does believe in namaz ( i think) and just trying to save the day with baseless arguments. As is clear from my many posts I do not believe in "namaz". As I said I have noticed something about those who consider QZ's views credible, and that is they frequently make illogical arguments/statements.

Wakas had given a good advice. In 232 singular is preceded by preposition Fee and followed by Khasehuon. And in 239 salawatihim yuhafithoona In 7023 singular is followed by daimoona and this Ayah is exception clause from the preceding one. In 7034 it is singular followed by yuhafithoona and it links back to 7023 Each and all of salawati are thus covered. No grey area is left.

In other words, it is not possible to face Ka?bah from the half of the surface of the Earth. That raises another question. Why would Allah SWT decree something which is not possible to comply from the half of the surface of the Earth? Or are we missing something here? You may find the following interesting http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-masjid-al-haram-Quran.html See the analysis of 2140-151 as it discusses "qiblah" etc.

Contrary to popular belief, there is actually very little information about how to pray in the hadith. I think that the movement and words we do and say during salat is the same as what was done during Prophet Muhammad's time, but the meditative aspect of salat is no longer emphasized as it should be. You are right, and it makes perfectly sense. The purified method of contact prayer with God Alone, can be learned here http//www.masjidtucson.org/submission/practices/salat/ One should ignore pathetic comments of some people here, and take care of one's own soul.

w/salaam, None of those verses actually say or imply certain positions in salat. Note how you are picking certain things from the verse and saying THAT is part of salat, even though the verse mentions other things which you do not take as part of salat. Ask yourself, how are you determining what is and is not part of salat? Then you will realise all you are going on is pre-conceived beliefs. In any case, if you wish to make such an argument, then the best verse to make a case for this would be 4102 however if one does, one will have to answer some problematic issues http//mypercept.co.uk/articles/meaning-of-SuJuD-from-Quran.html I didn't imply anything, Wakas. Notice I asked a question..."Is it possible?" It's either a yes or no response.

Peace all, This is only my opinion Washing the feet should be understood from a spiritual as well as from health standpoint. If you wash you feet in a cold environment one could become ill, God does not want to make us sick, only to purify us. Health is also a reason to wipe wet hands over the head and not wash the head Therefore wash or wipe depends on circumstance. God is all knowing Peace O0

Salam hafeez kazi i great article. thank you for sharing- Even the SALAAM IS WRONG And when those who believe in Our signs come unto them, say thou (SALAAMUN ALAYKUM) peace be on you; your Lord hath prescribed mercy for Himself; so that whosoever of you doeth an evil through Ignorance, then repents thereafter and amends, then verily He is Forgiving, Merciful. 654 It is SALAAMUN ALAYKUM and not AS SALAAMU ALAYKUM The KUM in the Salaam is Plural; therefore, I fail to understand to whom the Muslims are saying ?PEACE and ALLAH?S MERCY BE ON YOU? before ending the prayer? WA- 'IDHAA JAA'A -KA 'ALLADHENA YU'MINON BI- 'AAYAAT -NAA FA- QUL SALAAMUN cALAY -KUM KATABA RABB -KUM cALAA NAFS -HI AR- RAH.MAH 'ANNA -HU MAN cAMILA MIN -KUM SO' BI- JAHAALAH THUMMA TAABA MIN BAcDI -HI WA- AS.LAH.A FA- 'ANNA -HU GHAFOR RAH.EM 654 And when those who believe in Our signs come unto them, say thou PEACE BE ON YOU; your Lord hath prescribed mercy for Himself; so that whosoever of you doeth an evil through Ignorance, then repenteth thereafter and amendeth, then verily He is Forgiving, Merciful. 654 The believers said to the Prophet PEACE BE ON YOU Prophet was ALIVE and must have replied to the believers Between them shall be a veil and on the heights will be men who would know everyone by his marks they will call out to the companions of the garden (SALAAMUN cALAY ?KUM) "peace on you" they will not have entered but they will have an assurance (thereof.) 746 The companions of the Fire will greet the companions of the JANNAH PEACE BE ON YOU The companions of the JANNAH would be ALIVE and they may reply to the companions of the Fire. (SALAAMUN cALAY ?KUM) Peace be upon you for ye patiently persevered. Excellent then is the happy end in the Abode! 1323 & 3973 The angels will greet the companions of the JANNAH PEACE BE ON YOU The companions of the JANNAH would be ALIVE and they may reply to the Angels. And when they hear vain talk they turn away therefrom and say "To us our deeds and to you yours; (SALAAMUN cALAY ?KUM) peace be to you we seek not the ignorant." 2855 Good believers saying to vain talkers PEACE BE ON YOU The vain talkers were ALIVE and they may have replied to the believers From the above verses, it is clear that the SALAAMUN ALAY KUM is directed to PERSONS who are ALIVE and could be seen FACE-TO-FACE and not to DEAD persons or THIRD persons. To whom the Muslims say ?ALLLAH?S MERCY BE ON YOU? Is it directed towards the MUSLIMS or the ANGELS? i always stop with salamu aleikum- because i thinked is a nice gesture to say salamu aleikum for all peoples and angels around me- but in fact so i destroit my prayer? ! How you finish the prayer?? Just go away?? ) peace )

Classical Arabic dictionaries, such as Lane, will likely have variance, but the key is how does Quran use such words/terms etc.
