Salaam, I wouldn't say that Gibril is a Spirit. I am thinking of the Holy Spirit, Ruh al Quds, as something 'higher' than an angel which could perhaps manifest or act through an angel. There is a verse in the Koran that says God revealed to the bee so and so. Also it says that God revealed to the mother of Moses to throw Moses in the River. Its not clear if these revelations have angels as messengers. But I believe as far as the Koran is concerned it seems from the verses of the Koran it came down via Gabriel. But there could be other revelations he received outside the Koran that did not have Gabriel as a mediator. As far as the holy ghost mentioned in the Bible it could be Gabriel but also the incident when the disciples were struck by an invisble force that made them speak different languages and propogate the teachings of Jesus.
