    Belh

    salam

We cannot be a witness to the fact that Mohammad was/is a messenger, because we were not present, and hence we did not witness while he was being crowned/authorised as a prohphet/messenger in/by devine hierchey, and if we do so, we are jumping the gun and telling a lie.

    peace

is that a condition that one must testify, well i am a muslim and i dont testify,

I'm talking about the new comers and not you, as the thread is focusing on. The Thread is about a New Moslem.
I believe He should testify that the writer of the Quran is a prophet of God; otherwise, why would he accept the Quran.

      Belh

So in your words we can not testify that there is Haven or Hellfire nor their is Judgment Day. We can Testify about the unseen if God showed us the truth about it. We can Testify that the Prophet Mohamed is God Messenger because God Said so in the Quran.

      Peace BelH,

No. I ACKNOWLEDGE that Mohammed is a messenger of GOD, but I don't testify about other than Allah. GOD is enough of a witness for the messengership of the prophets.

      Peace,

      Ahmad

If God is a Witness then why should not you be a witness as well.

And what about saying I submitt to the Lord of the world " " according to the stories of Ibrahim and the queen of chiba?

Sure, I say that all the time and I never included Mohamed with it; The shahada we are talking about is for the New Moslems when accepting Islam.

Can anyone tell me the difference between ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND TESTIFICATION?

Is there a problem acknowledging that Muhammad was a messenger of God?

          salam rashidala.

I think, a Shahada which just had "There is no God but God" in arabic would be quite sufficient..

there are many who claim to believe in god, and few who witness they believe in god and the messenger muhammad.

because the message, conveyed by muhammad to mankind, completes the faith, to exclude the name of him as a messenger, introduces ambiguity.

to say, there is no god but god and moses is his messenger, or, there is no god but god and jesus is his messenger, or to say, there is no god but god, introduces ambiguity.
the ambiguity introduced is, the witness does not acknowledge he has received the complete faith.

          allah is the truth.

According to the previous verses my understanding is that we should testify sincerly that Mohamed is the messneger of God.

Perhaps you did not read my posting on this threat.. I will not repost it, but I think if you read it you would not insist on adding Muhammad's name into Shahadah. Furthermore, "Muhammad IS NOT a messenger of God" but "Muhammad WAS a Messenger of God" If you have not heard it yet, here is the news Muhammad died about 14 centuries ago.

            Peace,
            Edip

Well said Ahmad... But, the main issue is this Why they insist adding Muhammad's name when they testify for the ONENESS of God? The answer is clear Satan wants to make that statement merely half lip-service.

nineteen is a proof of everything in the Quran the pillars is coded ( Shahadaa , salat , Sawm , zakat , hadj ) you need only to check the Miracle of the Quran ( nineteen )the thing which you haven't understand that God is capable to do miracles , but unfortunatly I see that some people hasn't beliefs in their hearts , they like to sing only by the God's word.

This is what i am talking about also ). When God ordered ibrahim to submit (accept islam) Ibrahim said I submit to god, he didnt say La illah illa allh, and the same happened with the queen of chiba when she accepted islam, these are two examples mentioned in the quraan of what the new moslem should say when accepting islam.

im sorry say that again............... i did not get what you meant, if one does not say mohamad or other then one ha not accepted the full faith..............and where did you get this idea from .......do we all know mohamad was a messenger yes,do we all beleive in god as one yes, do we all believe in the quran yes, then whats the problem mohamad is dead he is no more but the messege lives on lets concentrate on that instead of someone who has been dead for many years almost 1400 to be exact. for all who beleive that shahda for mohamad is neseccary then you have not understood the concept of god.

of course he does, it is not god he is agaisnt but humans, that is why his arrogance brought him down, the fact that he would bow down to a human, but before that he worshipped god as the rest.....

will lead them astray and fill them with false hopes. I will command them and they will cut off cattle's ears. I will command them and they will change God's creation." Anyone who takes Satan as his protector in place of God has clearly lost everything. He makes promises to them and fills them with false hopes. But what Satan promises them is nothing but delusion. (Qur'an, 4119-120)

He (Iblis) said, "By Your misguidance of me, I will lie in ambush for them on your straight path. Then I will come at them, from in front of them and behind them, from their right and from their left. You will not find most of them thankful." (Surat al-A' raf 12-17)

When the affair is decided Satan will say, "Allah made you a promise, a promise of truth, and I made you a promise but broke my promise. I had no authority over you, except that I called you and you responded to me. Do not, therefore, blame me but blame yourselves. I cannot come to your aid nor you to mine. I reject the way you associated me with Allah before." The wrongdoers will have a painful punishment. (Surah Ibrahim 22)

                                    (&#65279 (&#65279

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the believers Each one believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His Messengers "We make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers." And they say "We hear and we obey;Thy forgiveness, Our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys." (2-285)

Believing in Allah & Books & Angels & Messengers is greater or equal to Testifying. It is an order from God to not discount any of them, otherwise, we are like Saten we are disobeying God's order in 2-285 and think we know better by discounting his Messengers from our believe.

                                      Salaamun all,

Here I just want add a thought of mine.

As per the following aayat, blinds does not have to fast? Even though I don't add any of the prophets name(s) while saying Shahada, but when this came to my mind, I was bit elektro

2185 It was the month of Ramadan in which the Qur'an was bestowed from on high as a guidance unto man and a self-evident proof of that guidance, and as the standard by which to discern the true from the false. Hence, whoever of you lives to see this month shall fast throughout it; but he that is ill, or on a journey, number of other days. God wills that you shall have ease, and does not will you to suffer hardship; but that you complete the number, and that you extol God for His having guided you aright, and that you render your thanks.

                                      (2185)

A blind cannot witness the month? Or a duff? If so, they don't have to fast?

If we carry the same to the Shahada of so called Muslims, they do the same, they witness Prophet Mohammed without seeing him. Does it really makes any difference in Eimaan? But I agree that we cannot discount any of the Prophets in any ways. Lets talk about giving shahada for all, is there anything wrong?

And it is totally wrong to assign 631 to those who say Shahada about Prophet. Cause, it clearly says "Iz jaa-AKa" "When they come to you", it is surely not refering to all who say Shahada including Prophet Mohammed.

What I believe then? I believe in and say as follows

37181 And peace be upon all His message-bearers!
                                      (37181)

37182 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sus?tainer of all the worlds!
                                      (37182)

And also I believe the Shahada as per 318.. Alhamdulillah.

May Allah guide us all towards the correct path.

                                      Khan

                                        Salaamun all,
And it is totally wrong to assign 631 to those who say Shahada about Prophet. Cause, it clearly says "Iz jaa-AKa" "When they come to you", it is surely not refering to all who say Shahada including Prophet Mohammed.

yes but god specified who the monafiqeen are by saying they are those who come and do shahada, and then he went on to say that he knows mohamad is his messenger he did not do shahada hmself on mohamad, but then did shahada that they are monafiqeen, in other words he is showin all of us or the meaning behind it is that he could have done shahada to mohamad but he did not, otherwise whats the point of that whole aya.
