Peace Br. Latif, What about Al-Salat spoken of by Quran? and how about Quranic injunction as to the public presentation of Al-Salat? Muhammad Latif Chaudhery Public Salaat; You can have a public gathering to tell people the rights and wrongs which God envisages you to uphold-apart from which you could include day to day problems and solutions and sort out peoples shortcomings. Also you could have a platform for people to voice their concerns. Saying all that you could have a salaat in a war where the plans are made on how best to overcome the enemy....... You could have a salaat at home for the family to voice their concerns if any. Just think if you teach a jungli, a jungle man the sunni salaat will it realy prevent him doing wrongs? On the other hand if you teach the jungli what are the rights and wrongs he should uphold then he can skip doing the wrongs so not be on the side of non belief, if he chooses to remain a muslim - according to the quran. Every person has the right to do right or wrong but knowing what is right and wrong is what prevents a muslim from being unrighteous. peace A

Assalamu aleikum I feel that while doing the prayer by standing, bowing and prostrating it makes me more close to God, i'm new in this religion, so please can you tell what should be in each step of the prayer? Standing = What would be the words or ayats to be said in this position? Bowing = What would be the words or ayats to be said in this position? Prostrating = What would be the words or ayats to be said in this position? Thank you and forgive if i'm too insistent... Peace be upon you all You are welcome to Islam. To learn what to say while standing, bowing and prostrating you may visit www.youtube.com and write in the sapce for search " How to perform Salat" you will get maany videos performing Salat and things related thereto. May Allah bless you and your family with peace and plenty here and hereafter. Muhammad Latif Chaudhery

Peace all, Quite revealing. I insist that the truth is not far, is not hidden from humankind but the problem is our rediness to accept it when against our tent/position. The choice really is ours. ZUBAIRUS.

So in your opinion Salli = active listening? Well i think its giving or taking counsel on important matters. and Salat = ? Counsel or something along those lines. BTW Zakaria's wife infertility is mentioned, not if she was old or young. . And he says " I am very old" Aqara = Barren that produce no result or issue or fruit So if she hasn?t produced anything in so many years and he has become very old aswell , Now suddenly a boy is born what will some people with dirty minds think- think where the child came from? Sorry but i have seen such talk in more places then one. God Bless.

Peace Rami, There is no article. I was just trying to pin down the correct meaning of Salat through chapter 107. I concluded that Salat is the recitation of the Quran to the people in the special times prescribed in other verses. Those who listened attentively were in state of sujood. The people who listened to the Quran but didn't execute what is being ordered are the people mentioned in this particular chapter. Great, you got it! Now everything about "salat" should become crystal clear. For example, I hope that everyone would also see that when Chapter 96 puts "reading" in contrast of preventing people from "salat" it is actually about "salat" in contrast to preventing people from it. Peace, Ayman

maybe it had something to do with the sabbath rest, that Allah rested on the 7th day...and to correct it by revealing that Allah does not need to rest so He commands Muslims for Jumuah on the same day with the jewish sabbath day..just a thought

How many salat are named in the Reading? This will answer your question. Can we unit with such discrepancies? Yes, if you accept other point of view. What about jews and christians? As long as they are "God alone christians" and "God alone jews" or even "God alone whatever", we are all in the same boat. AT the End you will be judge ALONE, and you will be asked about it? What would you reply on the DOJ, some were saying this and that? No you will just follow what you understood to be the guidance. Peace

I understand what you are saying Simple and thanks Bigomo for that. But, If One Feels that Prayer Humbles him in so sort of way to some sort of degree....should we advise him to stop? To you...It may be nothing but pure mechanical indoctination. Stupidity to the fullest degree. the most idiotic thing in your mind. But to me... It is a Physical Symbolic Representation of Submission. and Personnaly After I pray, I feel more humble. Why? Because Prostration. My Ego Conditioning Does not enjoy Prostrating. My Ego Conditioning Does not enjoy Submitting to a Higher Purpose. So by Praying/Prostrating, I feel Ego shedding away, I feel Reminded about my Purpose and Goal, and Feel United knowing that Others like me are doing the same thing. I May Even Feel like Perhaps I am Taking some Stress off of my Chest (mind) and Focusing on One Particular thing right now. The Destruction of Me (individual) and the Uniting of my Soul with the Source. Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually. Then after the Prayer, If I do not do Zakat, or Good Deeds...My prayer was Probabily made in Vain and I have again Regressed down to a Lower level. However, If After my Prayer (Reminder) I do Zakat, Do Good Deeds, Then My prayer (reminder) Did Justice, and served a Purpose. It was a Break from the Material World, to collect myself...and Remind myself of my Main goal. If you feel you dont need to pray whatsoever to Be a Good Muslim. and If you Feel That you have reached such an Amazing and High Rank of Being a Dooer of Great Deeds and have reached this Pinacle Key Stone By Non use of Prayers...Then Alhumdulilah. Great For you. That is really Remarkable. If thats the Process you take then Great. Amazing. As for me , I believe in this Method. and Wish to Explore/Expound on What Exaclty Alif Dal Min Means or Symbolically Symbolizes. Where it Originates, and If there are any Hidden Meanings that The Free-Minders might contimplate. and God be with you too. ;D

I used to pray when I first converted, but now I never do (the way muslims do), and it is because when I put on the hijab, I feel unsettled and filthy. It is difficult to concentrate on worshipping God when you feel this way. The whole issue of hijab to me seems illogical and unfair, both qualitites that do not belong to the God I believe in. If you say it is to protect women from men who are not her husband, and I am praying with my husband, then why put it? Then the argument comes about the djinn...okay, but then if the djinn are with us, would not the woman keep the hijab at all times even when she is alone at home, just in case some nasty horny djinn is peeping? And finally, if it is an issue of respect and submission to God, which I would totally do if I believed it was, then why not also the men? Are men not also to show humility and submission? I've raised the same questions this thread explores, for the past ten years, without ever knowing there was a group like this. I've wanted to pray, but have insisted on praying my own way, without hijab. And I do, quite often. Yet, I was missing the peace and stillness that I used to feel while praying a bit more ritualistically (in between adjusting the scarf on my head). Now that it is Ramadan and I am more focused on my spirituality, I'm driven to pray again, and I guess, like some others have said, have been conditioned enough to be afraid my prayers won't be accepted - even though that's the silliest thing I've ever heard when I think about it logically. The biggest worry I have is that my rejection of the hijab is really just me being prideful - that I am resisting submitting the way God has asked me to. Yet, I've searched and searched, and it's just not there. If I could read where it said it was necessary, I would do it. But as it stands, it sounds to me like it's a manmade rule - and more importantly, something people focus on instead of the main purpose of prayer, which is to worship. I just think that God knows what is in my heart. And if my heart is calm with my hair pulled back in a ponytail so I can focus on God, He'd rather that than if my heart was in a jumble of confusion and doubt with my head all covered up. But man, it sure is a steep hill to climb when all the muslim women you know disagree with you. ( Anyway, that's my ramble...I just had to reply because this is the topic I was searching for that brought me to this sight to begin with. It seems like such a petty topic in the grand scheme of Islam, but so much importance is placed on it, that it has caused me great stress. Salams Danielle Sorry for the long quote, but I can relate so much to everything you wrote here, Danielle! Thanks for articulating it so well -- not a ramble at all!

Basically the B and M sounds I don't beleive in coincidences but I don't think this should be attached to the 19 miracle and used as proof that this verse has to be said in arabic in order to get the spiritual benefit of salat Doesn?t ?waw? close similar to how ?ba? does? So wouldn?t it be more than 19? Lol anyway such a theory is silly to me. Abdullah, salat is to be twice, not once 11114 (Asad) And be constant in praying at the beginning and the end of the day, as well as during the early watches of the night for, verily, good deeds drive away evil deeds this is a reminder to all who bear in mind. but i guess if people can perform it at least once, good for them. Our deeds are to our benefit anyway

Peace brother wakas Below is the particular reply you mentioned peace zubairus, There is a difference between understanding/comprehending and acknowledging. Of course, it is preferable to have both I would think. As far as I'm aware, nowhere in The Quran does it say one must understand 100% of everything mentioned/contained in it. One must aim to do so to the best of their ability, sincerely etc. Lastly, the person leading the regular/timed salat/bond would likely be more knowledgeable than average, thus the chances of this are reduced. May I ask what point you are trying to get at, if any? Specifically, how this relates to the alleged directional element in this verse? Peace brother wakas You said one must not understand 100%.Agreed. I said atleast to an extent. I think we are saying the samething and we have taken for granted the language used. My request is this, when one is upholding the bond,he is confronted with a verse with variose interpretations. He is contemplating on the possibilities to arrive at the actual meaning to the level of his understanding. Sometimes it easily resoved but sometimes this take time. What happene to the bond? Concluded without submission? Bond suspended till the meaning is uncovered? Submission blindly? This is the request. Peace. ZUBAIRUS peace zubairus, My understanding is that the regular/timed bond would end the same way, with sjd/acknowledgement. If someone shows you how to clean a car, but you dont understand one aspect of the task, this does not mean you should suspend all car cleaning activity. You apply what you know, build from there, with sincerity, e.g. 37, 3918, 1736. One still acknowledges the direction/goal and takes steps in this direction. Peace brother wakas, Honestly your anology is not satisfying. And when we talk of mummeen he has accepted that the entire message is from Allah. But in upholding the bond, the understanding and submission in question are with regards to the particular vers or verses read. Brother, look at it from this perspective,if it had been that you upheld bond for me using these verse 4101 to 103, we both beleive they are from Allah I suppose, but see how far we have come trying to arrive at what is meant in the verses. In a situation like this, how can I submit when I am yet to agree to your understanding, neither do you agree to mine? What happen to the bond I repeat? Peace. ZUBAIRUS peace, Who says you have to agree with me to uphold the bond? Evidence please. Peace brother wakas, Definitely we submit to the message. But naturally these are the possibilities the message is read by the one leading,it is understood,we submit the message is read by the one leading, we seek for explanation on what is read,it is understood, we submit. the message is read by the one leading, we seek for explanation, but the explanation not satisfactory, we seek for further explanation and so it continues. Do you think otherwise? Peace. ZUBAIRUS peace zubairus, I see it as sjd/acknowledgement of God/His message, not the one leading the regular/timed salat/bond. I am of the view, that all regular/timed salat/bond end with sjd/acknowldgement, and understanding 100% is irrelevant. For example, if someone reads something to me and I believe/accept the source, then if I disagree with the interpretation or not it is irrelevant, because I know that same source requires me to continue to seek knowledge, have patience, be good, follow what is solid, listen to others and follow what is best etc so I acknowledge this direction. Peace brother wakas, Let us clarify a point. In upholding bond among the mumeenun, peaple who already believe that the entire message is from Allah, is the target to understand what is said and submit to it or just to submit it is from Allah. Is it that in your concept of bond among the mumeenun, understanding of what is said is not included? Remember 100% understanding was mentioned by you. Peace. ZUBAIRUS peace zubairus, Please re-read all my replies to you in this thread, especially #30. Thanks.

Modesty, IMO, has nothing to do with nail polish, make up, jewelry, etc. It's about decent behavior, courtesy, vocal expression, and being conscious about the way we dress... without boasting. It's common among women to feel more confident just by wearing matching, pretty undergarments that the public doesn't even see. So what's wrong with a bit of paint on her nails? Sometimes the smallest things add femininity to her routine. I don't believe it matters to God one way or the other during prayer, or any other time. If it was wrong, He would've told us in the Quran, simple. Excellent post. bravo I like it.

peace b_a, all, 4101....... an yaftinakumu allatheena kafaroo inna alkafireena kanoo lakum AAaduwwan mubeenan. As I said, even after kafireen are mentioned, whom does the suffix STILL refer to? Also, see the post above, and analyse 4102 in detail. And lastly, if still uncertain, explain why kafireen are upholding the salat/bond and sjd/acknowledging. Thanks.

Salaam Nerpsi, I dare many things, but I don't mean to upset anyone, Salat is primarily the establishment of a purpose using the Qur'an alone as a general guide, and a desire to fulfil that purpose, based upon the establishment and application of reason, this reason is the aspect of connecting with the Earth twice a day, it is not in itself Salat, this is why I thought you had not understood the essay. The most important thing is the development of reason, in the establishment of Salat, you can establish any method or technique you wish to build reason within the mind, but before you can form a Qur'anic purpose this development must be achieved. I hope you have not taken offence, my words are often taken as insults, when they are not intended as such, Salaam.

Aah, luckily Wakas has pointed us to the 'common' plural form of AlmuTTahhiriyn (or AlmutaTahhiriyn). This is one of the eight groups whom God has explicitly expressed His love for. And the only sensible "prejudice" is that every human must have equal potential to be included in those groups (i.e., equal chance to earn God's love). An example where God is addressing the women group specifically, using female plural form is on 2431 "Waqul lilmu'minaati ..." Compare that to the preceding verse 2430 "Qul lilmu'miniyna". That verse, i think, can be applied to both men and women since God didn't specify the gender (such as with the word "r-j-l&quot. However, in the next verse, nevertheless, God repeat the same expressions again specifically for the women. That, i think, is God's specific attention to the women group. (See, it is us men who should be worried about God's gender 'preference'. For example, have you noticed that a sura title Alrijaal -- ar-Rijaal (The Gentlemen)-- is strangely missing from the Book? We must be content with just Alnisaa' instead... ) I don't want to start a new thread since we are already on this subject.. What does everyone else think? And they ask you about menstruation? Say "It is harmful, so retire yourselves sexually from the women during the menstruation, and do not approach them until they are cleansed. When they are cleansed, then you may approach them as God has commanded you." God loves the repenters and He loves the cleansed. {2222} Doesn't God love women when we are menstruating? confused Now i would like to point to the expression "God loves the repenters and He loves the cleansed." What do you think the right translation is "cleansed", "cleansing" or "cleanser"? My own preference is to translate AlmuTTahhiriyn to "The Purifying People" or "The Purifiers" for short. Why? Because it is a constant act. (And because "The Cleaning People" or "The Cleaners" might give you a profession-related image instead--while "Cleansing" and "Cleansers" sound more related to anti-acne products) Have you ever wondered that in this world, even when we don't do anything, we'd still get dirty? Why God makes us (repeatedly) dirty? Why God asks us to (repeatedly) clean/purify ourselves? Compelling questions, aren't they? Peace, note Please correct me if i'm literally wrong with my own translation.
