I don't trust archeological so-called 'evidence'. How do we know that his followers are buried there? We don't have any of the sahaba's DNA to acquire forensic evidence, do we? Archeological evidence is always spoken for, it never speaks for itself. Hence, it's subjective. However, IF this is true, it would be a coincidence with the fact that the Quran never mentions salat as a ritual. It didn't actually say they "were" buried there, is said that they are "said" to be buried there, in other words they don't really know.

I totally agree with you, I just wanted to confirm my understanding by trying to give contre-arguments. Thanks for your help. You're welcome handshake Last but not least what do you think about salat lenght. I understand it to be for isha from sunset untill night darkness --> depending on your geographical location this time increase going to the poles, the smaler time frame is in equator about 20 min fajr (twilight dusk) until sun rise. --> all muslim calendar can give that information also depend on your geographical location. Judging by verses 1778 and 11114, and how the Quran defines night- and daytime, it looks like the dawn/fajr bond/salat goes from when the first ray of light is visible at the beginning of the day until the first part of the sun is visible at the horizon. The evening/isha bond/salat starts when the sun is below the horizon, and lasts until full darkness. Quranic daytime Start when the first ray of light is visible at the beginning of the day (dawn). Enduntil the last ray of light is visible at dusk. Quranic nighttime Start when the sun is below the horizon. End When the first ray of light is visible at dawn (beginning of the next day). How do you know it is not Salat AL-Wusta? Reading the Quran is part of salat, however, one is not necessarily performing salat when one reads the Quran. The alleged "middle prayer" is during the daytime. Furthermore, when God wants to tell us about salat, he uses the word "salat". From 1779 and 7320 we can see that this is not obligatory ("nafila" used in 1779). Observe/guard on the bonds/affirmations, and the most excellent/balanced bond/affirmation and stand to God humbly dutiful/obedient/devout. So/but if you are in danger/fear, so walking or riding, so if you became safe/secure, so mention/remember God, as He taught you what you were not knowing. "salawat" is the plural of "salat", and simply means "bonds/affirmations". It is used in chapter 9 also for "oath/bond", and seems to have a formalised oral expression connotation (e.g. this can be seen from its Classical Arabic meanings petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnifiy). So that is why it is mentioned in context to marriage vows/promises/bonds etc. Of course, when one asks any believer, what is the most excellent/balanced bond? They will not hesitate, and say to God / God's system. 2238 is giving a message of whilst one guards/observes the bonds, also bear in mind to guard/observe the most excellent bond and stand to God dutiful/obedient in this. All the previous verses/signs are about one's duty to God's commands. Thus, what is inseparable from this, is to remember and understand such commands, as laid out in The Quran, as God teaches us what we were not knowing. So there is a two-fold reason for bringing this into the context. The use of "stand" implies stationary, i.e. in one place. It can also be used metaphorically to mean "stand firm or persist". Hence, it then follows on with 2239, referring to guarding/observing of the most excellent bond/affirmation/salat by way of the regular/timed salat/bond (which is also a duty/command), and this can be done on the move if in a state of fear/threat/danger. If you become secure, then remember God as He has taught you what you did not know. Note use of word "taught". God teaches us by His guidance, and in this context it is revelation, The Quran, which links back perfectly to the prior context. Regards peace

peace all, Translating salat as 'prayer' in the following verses does not fit. Translators such as Yusuf Ali recognised this and ammended his translation accordingly. , To those will be salawat from their Lord and a mercy, they are the guided ones. Does the Lord pray for people? (salawat = plural of salat) Isn't salwat more correctly translated as 'greetings' and not 'prayer'?

In "al salaat" (Gematrical value 162), We pray God There are 6221 verses from the first to the last occurrence of God. 6221 is the the 810 prime number = 5 x 162. 6221 is a prime number but so what? Where does 810 come from? 810 is not a prime number. 162 is not a prime number.

By God's grace and guidance, I have brought forth the truth about Salat. I can only show the path. It is upto you whether to tread on it or not. You can decide for yourself. Each of us are responsible for our own deeds. Yours truly, K.Vivekanandan Where in the Qur'an does it state that burning incense is the primary part of salat? You have written that parts of the Qur'an have been omitted from the version we have today. What is your evidence for this claim?

To people who claim that Salat isn't a ritual and is more of a personal prayer (even though I think this makes more sense), or a state of mind, why would we have certain conditions listed out in the Qur'an, for example, to face the qiblah, wudhu, the clothes we wear, the tone of voice, to bow and prostrate? These seem pretty physical and ritualistic to me... Peace, Respectfully. Good question/s. Can you provide some Quranic verses that you're mentioning here? Thanks. I believe we've already spoken about this, haven't we? Anyways, take care. Peace.

Peace be upon you, To bow and prostrate means to be humble and devoted. There are many who do it physically but get no benefit...the reason is because it is not the blindness of the eye, but the heart. I am in no way against a physical prostration is a symbolic gesture of devotion, but that is not the ESSENCE of this concept. True since in the Quran Zakariya prayed standing.

I have no idea what the original poster said but the title intrigued me. It makes more sense that how long the prayer is shouldn't be defined by how many rakas one performs but how long time-wise one performs one raka. I think a person would glorify God more consciously performing one raka for an extended period of time than several relatively short rakas that are the same.

The Daily Prayers Al-salat a) There are no indefinite articles (a/an) in Arabic. For example prayer means both ?prayer" and " a prayer", because even thoe its not there, the indefinite article is implied. Similarly, evening can mean both ?evening" and ' a evening". b) Arabic does have a definite article (the) which can be added to the beginning of a word by attaching the prefix al-. For example, al-salat ' means ?the prayers." More examples (a) call the call (a) prayer the prayer An article is a little word that tells you something about a noun. Example, if you say ?a prayer," the indefinite article "a" shows that you mean any old undefined prayer. But if you say ?the" prayers that definite article ?the" means that you have a specific, definite prayers in mind. Arabic uses the definite article much like English, to specify something in particular. But it also uses the definite article to make general statements. The Friday prayers (congregational prayers) a) The days of the week in Arabic are mostly derived from numbers. The names sun-thurs are based on the numbers 1-5 But notice there are some alterations. The word for Friday is derived from the word jamaxa, meaning ?gathering", and the word for Saturday is derived from sabt, meaning ?rest." In the original Arabic calendar Friday was the day of gathering, and Saturday was the day of rest. You can see the similarity between as-sabt and the word Sabbath, which also refer to a day of rest. To say that you do something on a particular day or on a day in general, just use the name of the day. For example " When the daily prayers are called to on the day of gathering, then run quickly to Gods remembrance and leave the doing business," can also be translated as " When the daily prayers are called to on Friday, then run ....ect..." b) The Congregational Prayers will be held Fridays at the place of the prayers during the dawn and evening prayer times. The importance of prayer a) Prayer is righteousness that cancels the sins. Also it is a restraint from disobedience to Gods order and from evil. My prayers are to God, the Lord of the worlds. The prayers are kept for Gods remembrance. The prayers is a form of remembering God. Through prayer we mention, remember, and commemorate our God. Prayer is also a form of praising God. Threw the prayers we glorify and praise God. Neglecting Gods memorial is an act of infidelity. And denying it as an act of worship is apostasy from Islam. b) On the Day of Resurrection God will ask the criminals ?What caused you to be in the fire of Hell?? They will say " We were not of those who Prayed" Preparation for the prayers a) God does not want to make things hard for you; but He wants to cleanse you and complete His blessings on you so that you may be appreciative. b) One must be in a state of purity obtained after an ablution. Besides purity of body, purity of the place whereon the prayers are observed should be pure and clean. It is also essential that the clothing donned by the believer to be pure and clean. c) If you rise to keep the prayers, then u must wash your faces hands, arms to the elbows, and wipe your head and feet to the ankles with wet hands. If you have had intercourse then he must bath his whole body if he rises to keep the daily prayers. And if you are ill or traveling, or have excreted feces, or have had sexual contact with the women, and you cannot find any water, then you must select from clean soil and wipe your faces and hands with it. d) Any believers who observes these prayers after having done there ablution, will be cleansed and blessed by God. Their righteousness will cancel their sins. Times of prayer a) The sun doesn?t start to decline until it touches the western horizon. Until then you will see a whole sun or circle all day long until it starts to fade away below the western horizon. The Prayers cannot be observed prior to their appointed time. Most interpretations that the sun declines 5 min after Zur, it makes more since that the sun doesn?t start to decline until as small as an inch of the sun is below the western horizon. Only then will it be considered that the sun is declining. As long as you see 100% of the sun, no matter what time of the day it is, then the sun is still up, no decline in the sun. b) The prayers are ordained on the believers at certain times. They are observed by the believers at dawn and evening time at the place God chooses to be worshiped at. These prayers are kept twice a day. There are two prayer times ordained on the believers according to Quran alone. The number of prayers in Islam has went from 5 to 2 obligatory prayers a day. Traditionalist ( Sunni, shiats, and code19ers) think that there are 5 prayer time ordained on the believers a day. And some have come to believe that there are 3. The Jews also observe 3 daily central prayers, even thoe I do not find in Torah that they were ordained with 3, but they were ordained to connect each morning and evening, and sacrifice; while the afternoon prayer was recorded as the practice of Danial and others threw the bible. The traditional 5 prayers may be disappearing because it is a system that God didn?t decree and it is not supported by Quran. This system has mislead many into setting up Muhammad as a partner with God in His service and having them say ? peace be upon ? you? o Muhammad? ; as if Muhammad is there with Allah in His presence and the Lord said that " These people worship Me by repeating rules made up by humans.? It also appears to me that someone has set up some form of trinity by making 1 prayer times in 3. You can use the greeting ?good evening" during late afternoon, early evening, or at nighttime. As a general rule you can start using ?evening" an hour before the sun sets. Therefore, the evening salat time commences an hour before the sunsets and lasts until it has become completely dark outside. c) Even if we were to believe that the sun declines afternoon, there would still only be 2 prayers according to Quran. If you look up at the sun at noon time and afternoon, you might notice that there?s no decline in the sun. Which way do I pray? a) One prays facing the Sacred Temple in Mecca. The Formal Prayers a) The Formal prayers may be observed alone or in congregation led by a leader. The formal prayers consist of units. There are 1 and 2 unit prayers in the absolute proof category of the Prayers. Each unit consist of the following essential component parts 1 After making intention for the prayers to say ?All praise be to God who did not take a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have ally out of weakness." 2 To pray to your Lord. Example To say" My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the Most Merciful." 3 The posture of prostration. b) There are parts of the prayers which are absolute proof. If any of these parts are not fulfilled, your salat is rendered null or void and thus must be repeated. All other parts of the prayers, besides the absolute proof constituents are factors which are observed by the messenger or leader. Prayer method a) stand erect, facing the Focal point, gaze cast down. Form the intention for your prayers, and then say ?All praise be to God, who did not take a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have ally out of weakness." ( You might want to repeat this statement at least thrice This is an important part of both morning and evening prayer services cause it is the statement of the believers monotheist and Gods providence. And it is the Foundation of Islam. ) b) At the end of the above, you should say the prayers It is recommended for one to make a prayer list so one doesn?t forget anything. You should pray for your forgiveness, for the forgiveness of the believing men and the believing women, and for God to have mercy on those who raised you when you were small. You may say your own prayers. The Quran contains many prayers. You should pray like this Say" My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the Most Merciful." c) After reciting the above you should go into the prostration posture. Lye down flat, face down, in submission or adoration. Your body should be stretched at full length, with his arms reaching towards the Sacred Temple. In this posture of prostration you may glorify as desired or like this Say ?Our god, possessor of kingship. You grant kingship to whom You please. And You revoke kingship from whom You please. And You honor whom You please. And You humiliate whom You please. In Your hand is goodness. You bring the living out the dead. And You bring the dead out the living. You blend the day into the night, and You blend the night into the day. And You provide for whom You please with no reckoning." " Our god, Initiator of the heavens and the Earth. Knower of the unseen and the seen. You will gather the people for a day in which there is no doubt. God does not break His appointment." d) After the prostration, go into the kneeling posture. During the kneeling you may cry out further as desired or like this. You should ask God from His favor Say ?Be patient with us. My Lord increase my knowledge. My Lord, if You show me what they are promised. My Lord then do not leave me amongst the wicked people." e) Your salat ( prayer) method has now been complete. f) If you are with them and you keep the daily prayers for them, then let a group (unit 1) from amongst them stand with you and let them bring their weapons; and when they have prostrated then let them stand guard from behind and let a group (unit 2) who has not yet prayed come and pray with you, and let them be wary and let them bring their weapons with them. The prostration a) it is not O.K. to not prostrate physically. Just because one physically prostrates doesn?t mean he is prostrating to the sun or moon. He is prostrating to the One who created the sun and the moon. b) To prostrate means to lye face down, as in submission or adoration of the Almighty. ?Prostrated/prostrating? means to place self in a prostrate position. You see Muslims kneeling and prostrating because they are seeking a blessing and approval from God. c) You shall prostrate to the Almighty. You are to prostrate at the end of the prayers and also from the night prostrate. Quranic proofs on the prayers the listed verses is what links my evidences to my claims on the daily prayers About the prayers. 4103, 2945, 2014, 1778 Does the Quran teach a right way to pray? 2104, 20114, 2393-94, 23118 does God always answer prayers? 2186,2762 The importance of the prayers 56, 11114, 7205, 2014, 74L41-43, 2238, 1778 Conditions for the validity of the prayers 56, Which way do I pray? 2125, 2144, 2149, 2150 Prayer times 1778, 4103, 11114 The Congregational prayers/ Friday prayers 629 How to pray 23118, 2104, 20114, 2393-94, 448, 4719, 41, 9113, 432, 2200-201 How to keep the prayers 17110-111, 1082, 4102 Rules pertaing to prayer 443, 984, 17110 Acts which justify the breaking of the prayers 2238, 4101 The prostration posture 17109, 1958, 598, 2560, 4137, 5362, 6842-43, 9619 Acts which justify the breaking of the prayers a) If you are in a state of fear, then you may pray while walking or riding. If you become secure, then remember God as He has taught you what you did not know. And if you go forth in the land, then there is no harm that you shorten from the prayers; if you fear that the disbelievers will try you. They are a clear enemy to you. Rules pertaining to the prayers a) And do not show off with your prayers and do not overawe and hide with it; and form an intention between that. And from among His signs is the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun nor the moon; you shall prostrate to God who created them, if it is truly Him you serve. Do not approach the prayers while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying. Do not pray for any of them unbelievers who have died, nor stand at their grave. They have rejected God and His messenger and died while they were wicked. Too much praying? a) Outside of the obligatory prayers dawn and eve, one can pray at any time. Jesus prayer often- from early mown till late at night. God charged him with the salat as long as he was alive. While one can pray at anytime of the day or night outside of the formal prayers, even unceasingly, it is to be done reverently and meaningfully. Jesus warned about idly and endlessly repeating empty phrases in prayer.

Indeed. After all, Allah is most compassionate. People sin against Allah by forgetting Allah's sovereignity in our lives. He is our sovereign God. To him alone must we glorify. When we glorify our house, our car, our wife, our children, our job, our desires, and our leisure above Allah, then we commit grievious sin. Prayer is about rememberance , and a reorientation of our life to Allah. If he has not chosen us to bestow his forgiveness and mercy upon us, we would not be inclined to remember Allah, all praise be to him! Ritualized prayer, if emphasized as the only way of remembering Allah, can lead one astray as the ritual itself can take on a glorified meaning in our hearts and minds. Making rememberence of a ritualized prayer can glorify the prayer style above Allah. We must be careful about this sad potential. Additionally, we must be careful not to make a public scene about our prayers, as this can lead to self-aggrandizement, a form of idolatry that shows Allah that we have deserved his mercy through our compliance with rituals. Allah has mercy upon whom he will. This is clear in al Quran. We cannot work righteousness, or gather credit for ourselves to earn our way to paradise. It is Allah who keeps us on the straight path. Allah is closer to us than our breath. Allah is truly God who is with us every step of our journey, all praise be upon him! Amin!

bump I'm amazed at some of the content of the older threads. The link in the original post does not work, see here http//web.archive.org/web/20050301081253/http//mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/think-786/chapter31_1_7.htm This point alone provides a very strong case for salat al fajr = quran al fajr (which is the only other daily thing we are told to do in AQ, just one massive coincidence?) in 1778. Now that my grammar skills have improved since I made this post. I should mention the "it" in 316 could also refer to "salat" as this is also feminine. I think it is only a matter of time before it is proved conclusively the regular timed salat/bond means reading/reflection/oration of al quran.

i ve read it and i understood i am trying to similar like sun like moon like animals like angels they act (sucud) what Allah gave them simple but human different our sucud in the quran i mean if we act what Quran says that will be our sucud "Sujud/Sucud" means different things - it all matters which context it is put in. It can mean "obeisance", "prostration", etc. but prayer will be different this is with hearth cos Allah does not look our pray how we look Allah look our heart how we feel this is more important more than bodly actions mevlana in konya one day some one come to him talk with him all afternoon till sunset and he said to mevlana u ve missed noon and asr prayer he said there is no time i am praying cos his praying in his heart he is in contact all the time with heart and soul This is true. Prayer has to be BOTH mental and physical. If there is no mind/heart/intention with it, it is meaningless. my english is not good i am trying sorry for missunderstanding me Problem degil. Selam

Thank you so much ! handshake Q 2. Can we read the Qur?an without being in the state of Wudu, but of course being neat and clean? A 2. For a Muslim the real criteria of being neat and clean is to be Tahir. Taharah is more than being neat and clean. A person is generally considered neat and clean in the society even if he has passed some urine or stool and then wiped himself and washed his hands. But according to the Shari?ah, he is not Tahir. He has to make Wudu to be fully clean and Tahir. As far as the reading of the Qur?an is concerned, it is very important that one should touch the Book of Allah with great respect and reverence and should be in a state of Taharah. It is forbidden (Haram) to read the Qur?an when a person is Junub (after sexual intercourse or wet dream) until he/she takes a full bath. Women in their menses or post-natal bleeding (Hayd and Nifas) can read the Qur?an from memory, but should not touch it, except for female teachers and students who are allowed to touch the Qur?an, as a special case (according to Imam Malik). It is highly recommended and very much emphasized that Muslims males and females always touch the Qur?an with Wudu. Allah says about the Qur?an, ?None touches it except those who are pure.? (al-Waqi?ah 5679) Although this Ayah is about the angels, but our jurists say that if the most pure angels touch the Qur?an, then human beings should also do that in the state of full purity. ;D http//www.pakistanlink.com/religion/2000/01-21.html -*
